The hike in effect means the minimum fare went up THB9 to THB10 and the maximum from THB19 to THB20. Announcing the increase, a Marine Department spokesperson explained the price of diesel had risen in the past month and now cost over THB27 per litre. Under a pre-existing agreement, if the price of diesel tops THB27 passenger fares are automatically adjusted to reflect this.
