Jakarta expects full stop road traffic

In the April this year the construction of mass rapid transit (MRT) in the Indonesian capital to be started. It means that for four years, which will take the construction, the mass congestions on the roads of Jakarta will totally stop traffic.

As the director of the RT project said, they will try to minimize the impact by maintaining the number of road lanes. Some parts of Jakarta such as road section in front of the Japanese Embassy, are too narrow, so during counstruction they will be blocked.

The first MRT line will appear from Lebak Bulus to the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle with 13 underground and elevated stations. Its capacity should be about 173,000 passengers per day.
