Bangkok Ratchaprasong Christmas lights switched on

Tourist authority officials and Bangkok dignitaries were on hand this week when the Ratchaprasong Christmas lights were unveiled. This year’s illuminations include the highlight, and first in Thailand, of 3D lighting shows of Bangkok. The 3D shows are scheduled to take place five times a day until New Year’s Eve.

Specials shows are scheduled for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve too. The Magnolias Rajadamri Boulevard, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and businesses in the Ratchaprasong Intersection zone of the city have sponsored this year’s lights.

The Bangkok 12GO ASIA resident travel specialists say the lights are worth a look and add a touch of gaiety to expeditions to the shopping malls in this part of town. Gaysorn Village, CentralWorld, Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery are the flagships of the shopping centres here.

The plaza at the front of CentralWorld is the hub venue for New Year’s Eve countdown parties every year. The lights are an extra reason to join the tens of thousands of revellers who will be heading to Ratchaprasong to ring in 2018.
