Thai Airways signs sponsorship deal with English Football League

Thailand’s national airline has agreed sponsorship terms with the English Football League (EFL). The deal will see Thai Airways designated as the official sponsor of matches for the three divisions in the league but this does not include the Premier League.

The initial contract will see the airline sponsor Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two matches for the remainder of the 2017-2018 season. Among the games in the sponsorship agreement are the promotion playoff games and cup finals hosted at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium.

Thai Airways president Usanee Sangsingkeo said all at the airline were delighted to be supporting the prestigious EFL. She hinted that although the present deal was only short-term it could be a stepping stone to something more permanent by saying it would enhance links to England.

EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey noted that Asia was an important catchment area for football fans and the collaboration with Thai Airways would provide games with additional exposure in the region. 12GO ASIA says the EFL’s revamped iFollow platform enables fans to watch their teams in action live every week of the season.
