Myanmar airline to fly Bagan Siem Reap

Myanmar’s national airline is set to inaugurate a new route which will link two of Southeast Asia’s most famous tourism sites. Myanmar National Airlines will launch a route connecting Bagan and Siem Reap, the gateway to Cambodia’s Angkor Wat complex, next April.

The details regarding flight frequencies still have to be finalised. The direct air links are the fruits of a memorandum of understanding signed by Myanmar tourism-minister Ohn Maung and his Cambodian counterpart, Thong Khon.

The MoU will also see official tourism agencies in both nations promote the route with the launch of special packages. Myanmar Travel Association boss Thet Lwin Toh said the frequency would likely be three times a week each way to begin with, but might be tweaked later on in response to demand.

12GO ASIA says both Bagan and Angkor Wat are heaven for culture vultures, history fans and travellers who like their sights to be spectacular. The two complexes are immense and home to a combined total of thousands of temples, pagodas and peerless statues.
