Last Friday the first commercial flight to Yogyakarta departed Halim Perdanakusuma Airport which will support congested main airport of Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Last Friday the first commercial flight to Yogyakarta departed Halim Perdanakusuma Airport which will support congested main airport of Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. the departure of the first flights was accompanied by traditional Betawi dancing girls with wreaths of flowers.

The budget carrier PT Citilink Indonesia became the first airline which uses Halim Airport for its flights. It transferred 16 of its flights on four busiest routes from Soekarno-Hatta to Halim Airport. There are Jakarta Yogyakarta (Central Java), Jakarta - Semarang (Central Java), Jakarta - Malang (East Java) Jakarta - Palembang (South Sumatra).

 The best low coster of the region Air Asia and national carrier Garuda Indonesia will also transfer some of their flights to Halim Airport in March. Air Asia will transfer flights to Yogyakarta, Medan (North Sumatra) and Surabaya (East Java), Garuda – to Yogyakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Palembang and Pontianak (West Kalimantan).
