As the Transportation Minister of Indonesia EE Mangindaan said, the construction of Trans-Java double-track railway will be totally completed in March this year. The new rail line will connect Jakarta to Surabaya in East Java and will cut the travel time between them from 13 to 8,5 hours.
At this time only one part of Trans-Java double-track railway is operating, it is 436-kilometer Cirebon (West Java) - Surabaya section, which was commissioned in 2012 year. As originally planned, the whole railway had to start working in November 2013 year, but the construction has been delayed because of land-acquisition issues.
