Venice style river tours to launch in Ho Chi Minh City

The People’s Committee in Ho Chi Minh City has announced the forthcoming launch of a series of river and canal tours. The committee says around seven waterway tours will inaugurate during the coming three years.

Vice-chairperson Tran Vinh Tuyen told reporters he had requested help from the city’s Department of Transport in order to get the river tours off the ground as speedily as possible. According to the draught proposals, Bach Dang Quay in District 1 will be the central departure point for all of the tours.

The quay is on the Saigon Riverside. Tours will take travellers on waterborne odysseys along this arterial waterway as well as others including the Ben Nghe and Kenh Te canals. The tours will take in sights like Long Hoa Pagoda, Long Phuoc Isle and Crescent Lake.

The park alongside Bach Dang Quay will be revamped and a food centre and tourist information centre will serve travellers embarking on the river cruises. 12GO ASIA notes the river tours will add to the many enticements which bring millions of tourists to the southern Vietnamese metropolis every year.
