The cable-car line will transport Buddhist pilgrims from the pagoda’s car park in eight-person gondolas. Sky Asia is overseeing the project and a company spokesperson noted that the deadline for completion is the end of next month.
U Myo Wai continued by saying contractors would be doing live tests on the system for three-months to ensure it was airworthy and passed safety checks. The management body in charge of operating the cable-car system once it gets off the ground has even set passenger fares.

The pagoda is known as the Golden Rock due to the fact its main feature is a golden chedi perched on top of a huge rock covered in gold leaf. The rock is in turn balanced precariously on top of a cliff. The site is one of Myanmar’s most famous tourist and religious destinations.
