People’s Committee deputy-head Tran Vinh Tuyen explained that two stages would be set up on Bui Vien and artistes would be giving performances themed on Vietnamese culture and traditions. Show times will be between 20:00 and 22:00.
The People’s Committee also confirmed a plan to spruce up Bui Vien and surrounding Pham Ngu Lao. Work on resurfacing the pavements of Bui Vien with granite slabs will begin soon, but is not scheduled to be completed until September at the earliest.

Authorities in Ho Chi Minh have announced the launch of cultural evenings in the centre of the city’s Pham Ngu Lao backpacker zone. Beginning on 15 July, the zone’s Bui Vien Street will be closed off to vehicular traffic on Saturdays and Sundays at 19:00 to allow performing arts shows to take place.
