Thai tourist office announces start date for Chaiyaphum flower fest

Thailand’s tourist division has announced the start date for the 2017 edition of the Chaiyaphum Flower Festival. In a bulletin posted up on its website, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has confirmed the colourful Dok Krachiao Festival will officially launch on 17 June.

Chaiyaphum’s Pa Hin Ngam National Park is the venue for the opening ceremonies. These will include cultural performances and other entertainment. Dok Krachiao will run through until the 30 September. Carpets of the purple Siamese flower in full bloom are guaranteed to excite at both Sai Tong National Park and Pa Hin Ngam.

Tourism Authority governor Yuthasak Supasorn noted that fields of the tulip resembling blossoms are an electrifying sight which can be seen in the rainy season only. During the festival, staff at the national parks organise tours around the flower fields while a craft market will enable visitors to take home their own souvenirs from the eastern Esarn region of the country.

12GO ASIA’s travel gurus say both national parks also have waterfalls and walking trails while holy shrines and rock formations are among other reasons to schedule a visit to Chaiyaphum for the Dok Krachiao Festival. 12GO ASIA sells tickets for buses travelling between Chaiyaphum and Bangkok.
