Wat Pho temple scrapes into Top 25 of TripAdvisor global landmarks

In the recently announced TripAdvisor annual awards, Bangkok’s Wat Pho garnered a place in the Top 25 of global landmarks. The citation in the travel website’s Travellers' Choice Awards said the temple was a delightful sight that should not be missed when in the Thai capital.

Wat Pho is known in English as the Reclining Buddha Temple. Although the temple only took 21st place in the landmarks category, it joined illustrious monuments like the winner, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Taj Mahal and St Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.

Wat Pho was also 21st in 2016. A total of 706 landmarks in 80 nations were in the running for the 2017 awards. The winning 25 were decided by a formula which factored in the number of reviews and how positive they were.

Wat Pho placed fourth in the top landmarks for the Asian region. The nearby Grand Palace was ninth. The Emerald Buddha Temple is in the same complex as the palace and took 14th place.

This trio of premium attractions are just a small percentage of the draws which entice millions of tourists to linger in Bangkok every year. When travelling onwards to other destinations in Thailand, or to neighbouring nations, 12GO ASIA is the logical option for tickets.
