The Tay Ho District freshwater lake is only one kilometre from the main tourist accommodation zone around Hoan Kiem Lake. The proximity of the two has led a number of tourists to take a dip in the cooling waters of the lake. Even some dogs seem to have been feeling the heat and have joined their owners in the water.

The weather people say the heat is unlikely to ease off until at least late tomorrow. They also noted that the prolonged heatwave is the hottest the Vietnamese capital and the northern regions of the country have experienced in the last 14 years.
