The Tourism Association in Ho Chi Minh has submitted a request asking the government to expand the current one-year promotion to five years so that it will expire on 30 June 2022. The association also says the visa-free period should be doubled from 15 to 30 days.
Nguyen Thi Khanh is the Tourism Association’s chairperson. At a meeting with People’s Council representatives last week, she explained that a five-year extension would allow travel firms to formulate long-term marketing campaigns.
Under the terms of the current concession, citizens from the UK, Germany, Italy, France and Spain do not have to pre-apply for visas to visit Vietnam. Instead, when they arrive at a designated gateway to the country, they are granted a gratis 15-day entry permit.
