Hue prepares stage for annual artisans festival

Authorities in Hue are busy putting the finishing touches to preparations for next week’s Traditional Craft Festival. The celebration of heritage artisans’ skills will run between the 28 April and the 2 May 2017.

The cultural extravaganza will launch with visual arts performances at 20:00 on the first day. The following days will see artists give hands-on demonstrations of their time-honoured skills and the opportunity of buying unique mementos from all parts of Vietnam.

The organisers say upwards of 300 artisans have confirmed they will be attending the 2017 edition of the festival. They also note that there is no need to eat beforehand as Vietnamese master chefs will be giving cookery shows and there will be numerous vendors serving up the delicious tastes of Vietnam.

The central Vietnam city is a former imperial capital and famed for historic sights like Thien Mụ Pagoda. Hue is a convenient stopover on travel odysseys between the north and southern regions of the country. 12GO ASIA sells flight and train tickets from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Hue.
