Thai Meteorological Department says storms to hit the south

Thailand’s meteorologists say rainstorms are expected to sweep across the southern provinces of the country this week. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert saying the rains will hit tomorrow and will likely last until the weekend.

The warning says the rains will sweep across an area of the south from Yala, Narathiwat and Songkhla to Chumphon over the next two days. The rains are expected to move north at the same time and reach Prachuap Khiri Khan in time for the weekend.

The Meteorological Department says the storms might trigger flash floods in low-lying areas and householders and business owners need to keep abreast of the latest weather news. The bulletin says waves of up to two meters in height could cause problems for small boats during the storms.

12GO ASIA says occasional summer storms offer a respite from the soaring temperatures Thailand experiences at this time of year. 12GO ASIA is the most reliable source of online tickets for flights, trains and buses in Southeast Asia.
