A few times ago Indonesian Medan city was connected with the Kuala Namu International Airport by special track with Korean trains. The local Authorities also plan to construct the speed double track from the Airport.

A few times ago Indonesian Medan city was connected with the Kuala Namu International Airport by special track with Korean trains. The local Authorities also plan to construct the speed double track from the Airport to provide the increasing number of passengers and to reduce traffic congestion. 

The budget of double-track project is Rp 3.8 trillion or US$317.35 million. The construction works will be started in the next year and should be completed in three years. In the next two years a lot of other tracks are planned to be built, they are double track from Aras Kabu to Bandar Khalifah (15 km), elevated track from Medan to Bandar Khalifah (9 km) and double track from Aras Kabu to Kuala Namu (5 km).
