Some Japanese firms including The Japan International Transport Institute have invested more than US$53,270 in the development of Myanmar's railway network. The government of Japan offered 11 railway projects to be realized in Myanmar in nearest future.They are 172-km Toungoo-Yamethin section, 265-km Yangon-Toungoo railroad, 177-km Yemethin-Mandalay section and others.
The Myanmar Railway Authority will also get technical knowledge from The East Japan Railway Company to better manage the system.
