The islands and beaches of Thailand’s southern Trang Province

Those who enjoy chilling out on beautiful beaches and enjoying a diverse range of activities will discover southern Thailand’s Trang Province the ideal holiday destination. The province has a 200km-long shoreline facing the sparkling waters of the Andaman Sea.

Hat Pak Meng is the jewel in the crown of the mainland beaches. This crescent shaped beach is several kilometres long and shaded by lofty pine trees. The beach is adjacent to Hat Chao Mai National Park where islands such as Koh Muk and Koh Kradan give insights to the Thailand of yesteryear. Rare dugongs and pangolins are among diverse species in the park.

It is about 40kms from Trang Town to Hat Pak Meng. Air-conditioned minibuses ply the route at regular intervals during the day. The journey takes 45 minutes on average. There are several hotels and resorts at Hat Pak Meng or travellers can board a boat out to one of the islands.

Trang Town and Bangkok are a little over 800kms apart. Travellers have the option of bus, train or aeroplane to get here. Planes are quicker, but passengers miss out on the beautiful scenery en route. Trains take about 15 hours to cover the distance yet paying a little extra for a sleeping berth makes the journey a real pleasure.

12GO ASIA can supply you with bus and train tickets to Trang as well as to other destinations in Thailand and neighbouring countries.
