Trang is served by buses and trains from Bangkok and also has connecting bus routes from Krabi and Hat Yai. Travel time from Bangkok is 13 to 15 hours by train and 11 hours by air-conditioned bus.
The State Railway of Thailand offers first and second class carriages on this route. In second, travellers have a choice of air-conditioned, fan-cooled, seat or sleeping berth. For buses, route options are standard or VIP. Seats on the latter provide considerably more legroom and they recline farther.
The island of Koh Libong is the best place to espy dugongs. Boats for the 30-minute trip to the island depart from piers at Pak Meng in addition to Chao Mai and Kuan Thung Kuu.
