The minister continued by saying that WCs in first and second class train carriages would soon be as clean as those aboard aircraft. He carried on with the statement that the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) would be scrapping usage fees for toilets at rail stations nationwide during the next 12 months.
The Health Ministry has already started an inspection tour of toilets at the country’s railway stations. Air-chief-marshal Juntong said the ministry was satisfied with the cleanliness and facilities at 251 of the nation’s 443 station toilets.
Wutthichart Kalayanamitr is the governor of the SRT and he says the board has given the green light for a budget to acquire 20 carriages with shower and toilet facilities. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has reported that it will upload details about the railway toilet enhancements to its website for public access.

Thailand’s transport-minister yesterday announced that an ambitious plan to smarten up toilets on trains and at rail stations throughout the country had been instigated. Prajin Juntong said his ministry was working with the ministries for health and tourism on the project to enhance the travel experience for train passengers.
