New airport in Laos is in progress

The creation of a new airport in Laos' Xayaboury province is still in progress. Design and survey work were recently finished and the main construction work would start in the 2014 year.

The creation of a new airport in Laos' Xayaboury province is still in progress. Design and survey work were recently finished and the main construction work would start in the 2014 year.

The existing Xayaboury Airport is too small and has too low capacity, it’s able to serve just only small planes and helicopters. Environing mountains don’t let to expand Xayaboury Airport. So new one will appear on another territory and existing airport will be turned into a public rest area.
The new airport would significantly improve transportation system in the region and promote its economic and tourist development.
