Loei to stage Tour of Isan cycle rally

Thailand’s tourism bureau has announced Loei is the venue for a cycle rally next week. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has posted up an open invitation for all cycling enthusiasts to join the rally in the northeast region of Thailand on Sunday 7 June.

Regional TAT director Somradee Chanchai says the Tour of Isan Loei Classic is open to all comers, but the deadline for entries is 31 May and is limited to a maximum 300 entrants. The competitors and their machines are divided into two categories. These are road-racers and mountain bikes.

Ms Chanchai further explained the victors in both categories would each receive a trophy and a cycling shirt. The route for the rally is 70kms long and the start and finish points are Loei’s renowned Phu Pa Po Mountain.

TAT is collaborating with the Loei Provincial Administration, Nok Air and cycling organisations in staging this and four other forthcoming cycle events in Isan. Ms Chanchai says the rallies will follow inimitable courses that take in scenic and cultural highlights in their respective locations.
