Borneo Jazz Festival artistes ready to perform

This weekend will see the annual Borneo Jazz Festival take place in the Sarawak city of Miri. Artistes scheduled to perform are in the process of setting up their equipment. The venue for the 10th festival in the series is the lush gardens of the ParkCity Everly Miri Hotel.

The line-up of artistes scheduled to perform includes the Dirty Dozen Brass band from New Orleans, Anthony Strong from the UK and Australia's very own Doodaddies. The festival is spread over two evenings, today and tomorrow, and the entertainment begins with short performances by two local school bands.

Performers are scheduled to take the stage at regular intervals each evening with the last act closing at 00:15. Those wishing to take a nightcap could then head over to the resort’s Ruai Bar where local Borneo jazz musicians will be staging jam sessions.

The organisers say the event is al fresco and vendors will be selling souvenirs, snacks and beverages. They also noted that the opportunity of buying discounted advance tickets has now passed, but one-day adult passes were still available on the door for a very reasonable MYR70.
