He expounded by saying that the daily entry fee covered the whole complex and gave visitors access to the Bayon and Banteay Srey temples as well as to the Angkor Temple itself. The deputy-director explained that Apsara planned to conduct research into what was an affordable entry fee that would not impact on tourism too much.
When questioned, he refused to be drawn on what Apsara deemed a reasonable fee. Ho Vandy is an official with a national tourism committee and he says that if the Angkor admission fees go up by a significant percentage then it could impact on the numbers of package holidaymakers coming to Cambodia.
Mr Vandy noted that tourists coming on cheaper package deals might opt to go elsewhere if overall costs rose significantly. Apsara’s Angkor entry ticket prices are presently US$20 for one day, US$40 for three days and US$60 for seven days.

The government body in charge of Cambodia’s historic Angkor Wat temple ruins is considering raising the cost of entry tickets. Long Kosal is a deputy-director of Apsara and he says current ticket fees are cheap in comparison with similar global attractions.
