Vietnam Airlines celebrates new Heathrow flights

Last week, Vietnam Airlines celebrated the launch of its new service to London’s Heathrow Airport. When Flight VN55 from Hanoi landed at Heathrow last Tuesday, airline officials were on hand to present arriving passengers with flowers and vouchers for duty-free outlets.

At the same time, the airline’s check-in staff manning counters in Terminal 4 also gave departing passengers commemorative souvenirs. The inauguration of the Heathrow service was marked with an official ceremony in the terminal’s dedicated SkyTeam lounge.

Vietnam Airlines’ UK regional manager Le Thanh Dzung, Vietnam’s UK ambassador and Heathrow’s executive director John Holland-Kaye were among those who attended the ceremony. Vietnam Airlines has joined fellow SkyTeam members Aeroflot and Air France at Heathrow’s Terminal 4.

Vietnam’s national airline had announced three months ago that it was switching its UK centre of operations from Gatwick Airport to Heathrow. Vietnam Airlines currently flies to Heathrow four times a week from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The carrier is scheduled to take delivery of a Dreamliner 787-9 during the summer. A spokesperson said that once the new fleet member arrives, the flight schedule to London will be increased to daily.
