Marrakech in Morrocco placed first in this category while Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi was fourth. Apart from Hanoi and Bangkok, the only other Southeast Asian location to make the Top 25 was Ubud in Indonesia. Ubud is a hub for Balinese culture and came in at number 15.
The principal global travel website collates reviews by travellers to compile its lists of places, hotels and beaches which have received the most praise over the previous year. There are separate Travellers’ Choice awards according to geographical location.
In the Asian section, Siem Reap in Cambodia came first. This Cambodian town is the gateway to the fabled Angkor Wat temple complex. In the Asian awards, Hanoi, Ubud and Bangkok took second, third and fourth places.
Tripadvisor names Bangkok as 18th global hotspot
News in AsiaThe annual travel awards by TripAdvisor have placed Bangkok at number 18 in the table of the planet’s favourite holiday destinations. TripAdvisor released its Travellers’ Choice 2015 awards earlier this week. The Thai capital climbed two places in the Top 25 Global Destinations category when compared with 2014.
