In Suvarnabhumi’s size category, the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2015 saw Seoul’s Incheon Airport hit the top spot. Airports at Kuala Lumpur, Madrid and San Francisco placed second, third and fourth respectively.
Skytrax operates a website on which passengers review their own travel experiences in categories such as airports and airlines and how they fare in terms of check-in, staff performance and overall experience. Skytrax says the 2015 awards are the outcome of millions of surveys completed by passengers of more than 100 nationalities between May 2014 and January this year.
Announcing the awards, Suvarnabhumi manager Prapon Pattamakitsakul noted that Bangkok’s main airport also came 47th in the ranking of the world’s top airports. He continued by saying the airport’s staff had garnered 10th place in the Asian service awards.
Mr Pattamakitsakul added that not only had Suvarnabhumi rated highly in the annual Skytrax awards, it had snapped up top 10 positions in awards by Smart Travel Asia and Sleeping in Airports. He finished off by thanking staff for their dedication to making the airport’s passenger experience pleasant for all.
