Etihad to inaugurate Spain Thailand flights

Etihad Airways is all set to revive the service linking Spain and Thailand that was left vacant when Thai Airways pulled the plug on its flights. A statement from the Middle Eastern carrier says Spanish and Thai holidaymakers will be able to fly between the capital cities of the two countries with effect from 30 March 2015.

The statement expounded by saying flights linking Barajas International Airport in Madrid and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport will operate four days a week. The journey involves one stopover in Abu Dhabi en route giving total journey times of around 16 hours.

Two years ago, 124,000 Spaniards visited Thailand. This figure dropped to 116,000 last year and travel agencies in Spain blamed the drop on two factors, The first was the military coup d’etat in May and the second was the cancellation of direct Thai Airways’ flights between the two nations
.
Catai Tours is a leading Spanish holiday company and a company spokesperson said any new flight option with a quality carrier was a boon to tourism. The representative continued by saying that Thailand was an eternally popular vacation location for Spaniards and Etihad flights allowed the company to provide customers with additional choices.
