Monywa Myanmar – Best Places to Eat
You certainly won’t go hungry in Monywa and there is a good range of eateries from charming tea shops to traditional Burmese restaurants.
Street food and markets
One of the best options in Monywa if you are looking for some tasty local snacks is the Night Market on Bogyoke which has a range of delicious street food options like spring rolls, breads, and salads. There are also tables and chairs dotted around the various stalls so you can sit and watch the crowds as you eat. The market sets up every night around sunset.
Burmese food
For a more traditional experience, head to the quaint 5 Star Tea Centre (also Yone Gyi Road) where you can order tea or coffee and some snacks like spring rolls and cakes.
Some of the best spots in Monywa are the local Burmese restaurants such as Shwe Marn (Buta Road) where you can get local curries and a range of free side dishes like tea leaf salad.
Also in the same style is Aung Pan (Yone Gyi Street) which is usually filled with locals and has curries and sides for around USD2.
We also found that SU restaurant was a great place for lunch. They have a great choice of local Burmese curries and the set of wo curries, rice, some soup and about 10 small dishes won’t cost you more than USD5!
Western food
If you want a mix of Western and local fare then Eureka (Yone Gyi Road) has pasta, burgers, curries, and Thai dishes for around USD3.
