Pakse Hotels, Guesthouses and Resorts

Pakse isn’t particularly known for having a wide range of accommodation options; the choices here are limited, and most travellers don’t feel that impressed or excited by the options available to them for accommodation in Pakse. Don’t despair, however; Pakse might not be a bustling backpacker hub, but there are still plenty of basic, affordable digs if you’re planning to stay here for a few days.

The majority of accommodation in Pakse is found along Road 13, near the old French Quarter; some places are located on side streets off of Road 13. Accommodation in Pakse tends to be a bit more expensive than in other places in Laos, but even with that in mind, there’s no need to break the bank while traveling here.

Budget

Budget accommodation is mostly available in the form of clean, basic double rooms in a variety of guesthouses in the Pakse city centre. For single travellers looking to make the most of their money, a few dorm rooms are available – Nangnoi Guesthouse and Sabaidy 2 Guesthouse both offer beds in a dorm for LAK30,000 per night. Nangnoi is one of the most popular backpacker accommodations in Pakse, and in addition to the dorm rooms, you can also stay in a single private fan room (LAK60,000) or a double room with either fan or air conditioning (LAK80,000 or LAK110,000).

With double rooms that cost LAK130,000, Alisa Guesthouse falls a bit higher in the budget range accommodations, but is a favourite place for many budget travellers in Pakse. Rooms here fill up quickly, so you’ll probably want to reserve a room in advance if you hope to stay here. The rooms are clean, big, bright, and air-conditioned – overall, the place feels like you’re getting much more than you’re paying for. Alisa Guesthouse is centrally located on Road 13.

If you’re staying in the dorm, FoRest Hotel is another favourite in the budget accommodation range; air-conditioned dorm rooms are available here for LAK80,000, while the private double rooms tend more towards the mid-range budget, costing LAK220,000 (however, this tends to be the standard for low end prices on private rooms in Pakse). It’s not directly on Road 13, but is close walking distance to the Central Market and other tourist spots in Pakse.

Mid-Range

If you’re looking to splash out a bit but still stay in somewhat of a mid-range budget, one of the town’s best options is the Arawan Hotel, located on Salakiew Street, right along the banks of the Mekong River. The cheapest rooms here cost a little bit over LAK280,000.

Pakse Hotel is another very popular spot to stay in Pakse, and although the price range is a bit higher than the average backpacker budget (around LAK240,000 for the cheaper rooms), its central location near the main tourist spots in town (markets, money exchange services, travel agencies, etc.) makes it an ideal location for travellers on a mid-range budget.

Top End

Le Jardin Hotel enjoys popularity in the luxury price range, with rooms that cost about LAK570,000. This one is located a bit further away from the city centre, but is known for being a charming, beautiful place to stay with lovely gardens, an outdoor pool, and air-conditioned, colonial-style rooms.

Travellers to Pakse who wish to get out of the city and explore the Bolaven Plateau area or travel to some of the surrounding coffee farms may want to look for accommodation outside of the Pakse city centre; there are a variety of guesthouses around the area.
