First part of journey was not great as there was lot of mis communication once they told they will pick us up from hotel which was on the way to Hanoi (jnk SaPa home say n swimming pool) then they text me to come to office as they won’t be able to pick up saying roads are too crowded and lot of jam on road for 11:30 pm bus (what a joke ) entire town was drop dead after 7:30pm may the traffic jam was on her mind jokes apart . The front desk people of sao SaPa bus office is very rude and bad . This was bad part but the remaining part from Hanoi to cat ba was good one guy came along with us for the entire journey till cat ba hotel . Even though the bus from Hanoi to port was cramped (very less space in side ) no complain so far for that as my love for SaPa is too much . Guide from Hanoi to cat ba was really good . This was for 14-15 feb journey 2026

Linda BThe bus arrived on time and the bed was comfortable. However, there were people sleeping in the aisle in the middle of the bus, and the bus did not stop at the location where it was supposed to. As a result, I had to take a taxi to the Buffalo Hostel, which was a 10-minute drive.

Frederic Bus was very old and bed were very narrow. No toilet inside the bus and never were we informed when we could have access to toilet. And we had to transfer in another bus early in the morning.

Manon HI strongly advise against taking the 10 PM night bus from Sapa to Cat Ba! It departed Cat Ba at 11 PM and arrived in Hanoi at 4:30 AM. The bus station was closed, forcing me to wait outside in the street until 6:30 AM when it reopened. The bus finally arrived at 7:50 AM.
Once in Cat Ba, some people were dropped off at their hotels for free, while others had to pay 10,000 VND per person for a one-minute ride (it wasn't mentioned anywhere that this fare was charged).

Willi Bus was 1 hour too late and the personal was quite a bit unprofessionell. There was no pick up and drop off service. Moreover the bis also did not have wifi and it was way too cold inside. The personal also cobstanly opend pur cabins and woke us every 1 hour at every stop.
