Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru Destination Reviews

Bus journey would have been excellent, if not for the staff behaviour. Either the driver or colleague shouted rudely at me in Malay (which i do not understand), like I was a lowly army recruit all because i stood up for a bit while the bus is moving. Had no clue why another staff spent nearly 5 minutes discussing and nearly asked another customer to leave the bus, all because the customer's shoes weren't clean Honestly i don't remember coming across any clear rules and regulations banning customers from boarding a bus due to dirty footwear This operator could have been perfect but the staff in general, need serious customer service training

The coach in itself was fairly comfortable, and the online tickets purchase was easy. However our 1030 coach did not show up at the station until 1215… and we only departed kl 2 hours later than scheduled. And there was simply zero communication as to reason for the delay etc. Even terminal station staff were unable to contact the coach company meridian travels. Neither could I get through any of the phone numbers listed online nor on the tickets to try and get an update. And when the coach did finally turn up it came to a different platform alltogether. It was so inconvenient to lug our bags across in a hurry. The station staff and driver were ok but the massive 2 hours delay and zero communication from both 12go and the bus operator meridian travels compels us to give this company unfortunately just a poor 2 star rating.

Vehicle: Very comfortable for its price. Have charger port, spacious seat and leg room, Air-cond, CCTV, clean On time: Understandably because of some crowd and traffic issues at TBS we boarded 20mins late, but the bus driver and operator make up for it by making sure the boarding is fast and smooth! Operator Service: Excellent! We make few stops for toilet and some parents asking for a stop for their toddler toilet break. And everything was smoothly done, no passenger left behind and we had enough time for the break. We reach our destination almost on time despite departing bit late, and the operators still assist passengers to take out our luggage. 12Go's Support: At the beginning i have difficulty to navigate the apps finding the helpline, after that, helpline was smooth and prompt PDF vouchers: Super helpful

We left 10 minutes early from TBS Kuala Lumpur because all passengers were boarded be ready to go. The bus we comfortable, it was an older bus but still good. The only issue was the bus driver smoking cigarettes while driving the bus. Just cracking the window. I thought that was disrespectful to the passengers. Not everyone wants to smell cigarettes or breathe it in their lungs. He later got into a problem with another driver on the route and begin blocking both lanes with the bus so the driver could not pass. Playing dangerous games with passengers live because of your pride is not cool. We made a 30 minute stop for food as toilet half way through. Then another 10 minute stop about 30 minutes before we arrived at Larkin.

Travelling by bus essentials

  • If you are planning to travel during the high season, weekends, or national holidays, booking your bus tickets in advance is highly recommended. The demand is at its highest, yet very often, the number of coaches serving the route remains the same. The earlier you reserve your seat, the better. On some routes, you need to secure your ticket more than a month in advance; on others, a couple-of-days advanced booking is enough. During such periods, try to book online beforehand whenever possible, as showing up at the bus station without a ticket may result in many-hours of waiting in the queue or leave you downright stranded.
  • VIP, 1st, Gold, and similar bus tickets are the most expensive option, but they provide a higher level of comfort. Normally the price of such tickets will include wide soft reclining seats, blankets, water and snacks or lunch, and sometimes some toiletries. Upper-class buses travel faster, make fewer stops during the route, and normally provide more spacious seating to their passengers and a better travel experience.
  • Not all buses have an on-board toilet, but generally, for all trips longer than three hours, all operators schedule a bathroom and/or a lunch stop. While operators definitely do their best to keep on-board toilets clean, the smell may be an issue sometimes. For longer trips, booking a seat a bit farther from the toilet may be a good idea. Also, using bathroom stops for your toilet needs is always better than trying to find your balance in an on-board toilet on the run.
  • If you travel by an air-con bus, make sure to pack layers. A hoodie, a warm scarf, or a beanie hat may prove a good idea. Air-conditioning on buses tends to be excessive, and running nose and sore throats abound after even not the longest bus rides.
  • Always use the security belts even if your bus ride attendant or driver does not insist on it. Your safety comes first – for you, for sure. All buses normally are equipped with security belts, but they may be fixed behind your seat. Take time to find the belt and fix it appropriately.
  • To avoid being disturbed by overhead lights, switched on during stops even at night, and too loud music or sound from the on-board entertainment system, have earplugs and a sleeping mask at hand.
  • As a courtesy to other passengers, avoid using strong perfumes or smelly foods. Some foods like cheeses or durians are forbidden to take on-board – check in advance. Alcohol is also prohibited on the majority of buses.
  • Note that if the bus requires refuelling en-route, passengers will be asked to get off the bus. Operators are not allowed to refuel with passengers on board due to safety reasons. Usually, it takes from 5 to 10 minutes and is often combined with a toilet/lunch stop.
  • If not stated otherwise in your tickets, arrive at the bus station 20-30 minutes before departure. It will give you enough time to find the departure platform and check-in. For international trips, you may need more time for check-in and border formalities.
