Hoi An to Quy Nhon Destination Reviews

Overall the service was amazing, the bus clean and we even got picked up and taken to the bus when the route was slightly altered. The space itself was ok. I am 175cm and only just found it reasonable in length. Anybody 180cm or above will feel cramped.

Decent service despite a last minute change of the departure address in Hoi An. The long distance sleeper bus was less comfortable with very narrow beds. If you are somewhat bulky ask for a bed in the middle. The bus left on time and arrived just a few minutes early.

I was going to rate one star but I did eventually reach Quy Nhon. Just before traveling to Cocovip bus station in Hoi An they offered to send a car to my hotel. I thought they were being nice but they drove me 45min in the opposite direction and we stopped at a small outpost off a highway. The driver said the bus would come in 10min.But after an hour I asked him where is the bus and then he stopped speaking. Eventually after twohrs+ a different bus company pulled up and they loaded us on for a 6hr ride that was estimated as 4. The one positive part is the person that I had been speaking with on Whats Ap did respond to my text. I'm not sure if Cocovip has it's own buses or brokers passengers to different buses.

Picked up at my hotel by car and drove 20 minutes in the opposite direction, then had to wait 30 mintues for bus to arrive. Had to cross busy street with my luggage while attendant flagged down the bus. The bus slowed down but never stopped moving as my luggage was thrown into the cargo area and I had to board the bus while it was moving. It stopped suddenly and I was thrown backward before I could get into my assigned cabin. Totally unsafe and irresonsibleds on the part of the driver and bus company

I mean we left two hours after we were meant to leave and arrived 2 hours late. Was a bit chaotic with pick ups etc but it got us there I guess. To be expected if you’re being taken to a remote place. Didn’t have much choice so had to go with this company.

Car that took me to the bus station to the west end different location than listed was nice and no problems. He did a good job! However 10:17 the bus comes... I go near the middle back to get in a seat but then comes the 2nd worker guy saying I have to sit up front, I said no I dont want to but he is yelling I have to and grabs my bag, there are 3 other foreigners getting on when I did so he said they get to sit in those seats, okay then there's 1 empty seat there and I ask can I sit there?? but the guy on the bus said no no you sit up at the front, but there was an empty one where those 3 people were. I dont know why I wasnt allowed to pick my seat like I have done before... it would be different if there were no other seats but this is not the case there were empty seats. No one else got on at our stop or any other stop after so I could have sat there, I feel like because im a foreigner i was treated this way, i had to listen to the bus driver Honk the horn like every 20 seconds.... its crazy just how much he honks the horn, it gave me a pounding headache listening to that the whole way for 6+ hours, maybe a few patches where he wasnt wailing on the horn. I rode a different bus before further to the middle/back and actually was able to rest a bit. This left a very poor taste about booking with this company ever again. And we are driving south with empty seats... so tell me why I was forced to sit at the front??? Its a shame I wanted to write a nice review as I like the bus, but this reflects poorly when you treat people like this and not even try and listen. Also other local people got off a lot earlier for stops so why didnt they get say up front instead? Makes no sense. They used Son Tung limousine. The driver wasn't very friendly either just had a scowl on his face when I greeted him taking my shoes off. If your 3 people then sure book this as you will probably all sit together but if your a solo foreiger female you might get forced to sit up front even when there are empty seats and listen to the horn the whole way. Okay so 2 hours in at 12:17pm a Vietnamese man just got off, why didnt they make him sit in the front just before ga tri binh bus stop, when he had a short ride? He had no luggage underneath. The bus will stop at 2 places for a pit stop, I didnt get out at the first but the 2nd place i did for the bathroom, be aware its the squat type of toliet. We arrived around 420pm. I hate to complain I am not one of those people and usually chalk it up an an experience but this was not good. You really need to have nicer people working when dealing with people, I wonder if my review will get posted due to it not being positive. I think id rather take the train again if I can. This was not a good experience.

Travelling by bus essentials

  • If you are planning to travel during the high season, weekends, or national holidays, booking your bus tickets in advance is highly recommended. The demand is at its highest, yet very often, the number of coaches serving the route remains the same. The earlier you reserve your seat, the better. On some routes, you need to secure your ticket more than a month in advance; on others, a couple-of-days advanced booking is enough. During such periods, try to book online beforehand whenever possible, as showing up at the bus station without a ticket may result in many-hours of waiting in the queue or leave you downright stranded.
  • VIP, 1st, Gold, and similar bus tickets are the most expensive option, but they provide a higher level of comfort. Normally the price of such tickets will include wide soft reclining seats, blankets, water and snacks or lunch, and sometimes some toiletries. Upper-class buses travel faster, make fewer stops during the route, and normally provide more spacious seating to their passengers and a better travel experience.
  • Not all buses have an on-board toilet, but generally, for all trips longer than three hours, all operators schedule a bathroom and/or a lunch stop. While operators definitely do their best to keep on-board toilets clean, the smell may be an issue sometimes. For longer trips, booking a seat a bit farther from the toilet may be a good idea. Also, using bathroom stops for your toilet needs is always better than trying to find your balance in an on-board toilet on the run.
  • If you travel by an air-con bus, make sure to pack layers. A hoodie, a warm scarf, or a beanie hat may prove a good idea. Air-conditioning on buses tends to be excessive, and running nose and sore throats abound after even not the longest bus rides.
  • Always use the security belts even if your bus ride attendant or driver does not insist on it. Your safety comes first – for you, for sure. All buses normally are equipped with security belts, but they may be fixed behind your seat. Take time to find the belt and fix it appropriately.
  • To avoid being disturbed by overhead lights, switched on during stops even at night, and too loud music or sound from the on-board entertainment system, have earplugs and a sleeping mask at hand.
  • As a courtesy to other passengers, avoid using strong perfumes or smelly foods. Some foods like cheeses or durians are forbidden to take on-board – check in advance. Alcohol is also prohibited on the majority of buses.
  • Note that if the bus requires refuelling en-route, passengers will be asked to get off the bus. Operators are not allowed to refuel with passengers on board due to safety reasons. Usually, it takes from 5 to 10 minutes and is often combined with a toilet/lunch stop.
  • If not stated otherwise in your tickets, arrive at the bus station 20-30 minutes before departure. It will give you enough time to find the departure platform and check-in. For international trips, you may need more time for check-in and border formalities.
