Hoi An to Phong Nha Destination Reviews

I think companies usually receive a lot of complaints, but I would like to give some praise. The whole experience was excellent. The communication was clear and professional, the driver was friendly and reliable, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Overall, everything was perfect. Thank you very much!

Guy in the office was rude and dismissive, then the bus arrived and the guy putting our bags on was also rude and lobbed them in like our bags had insulted his family, then took off half hour late. The lying down cabins are relatively comfy, one stained and questionable 'drips' stuck to the leather - clearly not cleaned between journeys - and not adjustable at all. Driver was the worst of all, super rude, even physically pushing me back when we tried to get off for a wee (we were inexplicably stopped for 20 minutes anyway with no notice, no one got on or off and there was a cafe immediately next to us). Got told we'd stop in 20 mins, then stopped again, most of us tried ask to go to the toilet as there's none on the bus and we're 4-4.5 hrs in at this point. (I want to note that these two stops were to pick up 'personal' packages to deliver, not passengers). Told again no, quite aggressively, and had to wait 5 minutes just for him to pull into a stop basically the same as the other two. That was the only stop for the whole 7.5 hr journey. There isn't much upon which to base a recommendation for this company, aside from having a cabin on your own. By the end this didnt really outweigh the rest of the experience.

We booked the bus the night before and received the tickets straight away (for 2 people). We then woke up to emails and Whatsapp messages the next morning saying that the bus was actually full and we could be rebooked to one an hour later or receive a full refund. We went for the first option. The communication with HK Buslines was super easy via Whatsapp. The bus departed on time, and was very clean, spacious and comfortable. We stopped once for dinner + toilet and arrived ~45 minutes after schedule at our destination. Overall very content.

Hi, I can comper to other company, please see what was not good experience: we first get the back top cabine no option to book a cabin - you can really feel the bumping road, one backrest was partially broken, no room for personal staffing, the sleeping arrangements based on hot-bedding - you get the blanket that someone else was use, no advance notice for restroom stop . The bus was very quiet we shift to the middle and it was good, the driver and assistant were perfect they stopped every time when we asked for restroom

The bus was late collecting us in the first place which was a bad sign. Then it proceeded to stop at random different locations multiple times throughout the evening for no reason. There was no communication to us about why we kept stopping or what was going on or even when we were allowed to get out and use the bathroom. The bus driver then drove past our stop for 15 minutes just to turn around and then drive back 15 minutes later. We ended up being over 3 hours late turning a 6 hour journey into a 9.5 hour journey. We also didn’t even get dropped at our right location and had to walk to the final bus stop. The beds were comfy but that was the only good thing.

An hour before the bus time, we got massage about delay of 2 hours. After I chat with them, they booked us at the bus with only 1 hour delay. Since that all was good. But... the bus dropped us not on the place that mentioned at the ticket information, and the taxi driver waiting us in other place. It was 1:30 am, and we are with a baby. So shame !!!

On the Booking page it seams like every 30 Min a bus is running. I booked one for 8am, but there was no bus. I asked the lady in the office and she said it's everyday the same, the bus is not coming until 9 or later. After she made a call after 9 they told me they have maintenance issues, but I don't believe it, all other guest had bikes 11 as pick up, so I had to wait 3 hours for the bus. If I had known in advance I could check out later and have a nice morning. The driver also made a lot of stops for deliveries and also for Lokals to bring home. The bus was even passing out destination for a private drop off so for us additional 30 Min longer drive....

Travelling by bus essentials

  • If you are planning to travel during the high season, weekends, or national holidays, booking your bus tickets in advance is highly recommended. The demand is at its highest, yet very often, the number of coaches serving the route remains the same. The earlier you reserve your seat, the better. On some routes, you need to secure your ticket more than a month in advance; on others, a couple-of-days advanced booking is enough. During such periods, try to book online beforehand whenever possible, as showing up at the bus station without a ticket may result in many-hours of waiting in the queue or leave you downright stranded.
  • VIP, 1st, Gold, and similar bus tickets are the most expensive option, but they provide a higher level of comfort. Normally the price of such tickets will include wide soft reclining seats, blankets, water and snacks or lunch, and sometimes some toiletries. Upper-class buses travel faster, make fewer stops during the route, and normally provide more spacious seating to their passengers and a better travel experience.
  • Not all buses have an on-board toilet, but generally, for all trips longer than three hours, all operators schedule a bathroom and/or a lunch stop. While operators definitely do their best to keep on-board toilets clean, the smell may be an issue sometimes. For longer trips, booking a seat a bit farther from the toilet may be a good idea. Also, using bathroom stops for your toilet needs is always better than trying to find your balance in an on-board toilet on the run.
  • If you travel by an air-con bus, make sure to pack layers. A hoodie, a warm scarf, or a beanie hat may prove a good idea. Air-conditioning on buses tends to be excessive, and running nose and sore throats abound after even not the longest bus rides.
  • Always use the security belts even if your bus ride attendant or driver does not insist on it. Your safety comes first – for you, for sure. All buses normally are equipped with security belts, but they may be fixed behind your seat. Take time to find the belt and fix it appropriately.
  • To avoid being disturbed by overhead lights, switched on during stops even at night, and too loud music or sound from the on-board entertainment system, have earplugs and a sleeping mask at hand.
  • As a courtesy to other passengers, avoid using strong perfumes or smelly foods. Some foods like cheeses or durians are forbidden to take on-board – check in advance. Alcohol is also prohibited on the majority of buses.
  • Note that if the bus requires refuelling en-route, passengers will be asked to get off the bus. Operators are not allowed to refuel with passengers on board due to safety reasons. Usually, it takes from 5 to 10 minutes and is often combined with a toilet/lunch stop.
  • If not stated otherwise in your tickets, arrive at the bus station 20-30 minutes before departure. It will give you enough time to find the departure platform and check-in. For international trips, you may need more time for check-in and border formalities.
