Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City Destination Reviews

A decent rip albeit it takes a very long time, just over 9 hours. The bus was a VIP bus with sleeper cabins. Departure was on-time, but arrival was late. Probably the most convenient way to travel Da Lat to Saigon.

If you're over 6 ft it probably isn't going to be the most pleasant trip , I'm 6ft 3. I have size 12 feet and they insist you take your shoes off and bag them which is cool but take them off your bed and put them back on as you get off bus as the thongs they provide are about size 6 tops. They do love beeping their air horns for the entire trip ... Guess it's a Vietnam thing for traffic .... But if you're a light sleeper like me it will grate on you ... Was adequate toilet stops for the wife as she lasts about 2 hours before she needs to go .... It was cheap but brutally slow for the 400 odd km from dalat to Saigon .... About 8.5 hours but that's because it's pretty much residential most of way. It served it's purpose as dalat airport out of service at present and I couldn't be bothered doing 4 odd hours back to nah trang airport. Bus driver was a lil cranky on second stop when I hopped out for a gasper when wife in toilet and then proceeded to have mechanic adjust air brakes for another 15 odd mins so not sure why he had sand in his vag

Solo American Women. Great modern bus. Big seats and the bus left on time. Toilet on board. Trong Minh is an intercity line. Makes multiple stops and ends on very far west side from HCMC D1. Ending station is 45-50 mins from D1/D2

This bus is very comfortable, includes a toilet, and there is a stop for food. No matter which company you choose, the actual travel time if you travel in the daytime is 9-10 hours. Traffic going in and out of HCM is horrible during the day. At night it’s closer to 7 hours. So keep that in mind if you have a flight or onward bus to catch.

This was the worst overnight experience. They LIE about when you will arrive when booking. The Booking says leave at 22:30 (10:30pm) and arrive at 6am. But when I arrived I was told we would arrive between 4am-5am??? When I showed the agent that we are supposed to arrive at 6am he said that was an estimate???? We Arrived At 3:50am when they were playing music on the bus and tell us to get off!!!! If I knew we were arriving at 4am I would have booked a different bus. Clearly all the taxi drivers knew we were applying at 4am because they were all there. Read the other reviews, 4am arrival is KNOWN not an unexpected estimated time. I had to sit in a McDonalds until 9am when the hotel I had arranged an early arrival for opened. So 2 hours less sleep meant I was EXHAUSTED and then had to find a safe place in a city I was never at before at 4AM!!!

Erratic driving (80km/h in some corners in the mountains while overtaking a truck). However bus is nice and comfortable, we arrived 2h early but wouldn’t let us sleep in the bus…

Probably the best night bus experience that I had. Clean and modern bus, water and snacks and for once nice drivers. Only downside was that we arrived 2 hours early (3:50 instead of 6) which mess with our planning a bit.

Travelling by bus essentials

  • If you are planning to travel during the high season, weekends, or national holidays, booking your bus tickets in advance is highly recommended. The demand is at its highest, yet very often, the number of coaches serving the route remains the same. The earlier you reserve your seat, the better. On some routes, you need to secure your ticket more than a month in advance; on others, a couple-of-days advanced booking is enough. During such periods, try to book online beforehand whenever possible, as showing up at the bus station without a ticket may result in many-hours of waiting in the queue or leave you downright stranded.
  • VIP, 1st, Gold, and similar bus tickets are the most expensive option, but they provide a higher level of comfort. Normally the price of such tickets will include wide soft reclining seats, blankets, water and snacks or lunch, and sometimes some toiletries. Upper-class buses travel faster, make fewer stops during the route, and normally provide more spacious seating to their passengers and a better travel experience.
  • Not all buses have an on-board toilet, but generally, for all trips longer than three hours, all operators schedule a bathroom and/or a lunch stop. While operators definitely do their best to keep on-board toilets clean, the smell may be an issue sometimes. For longer trips, booking a seat a bit farther from the toilet may be a good idea. Also, using bathroom stops for your toilet needs is always better than trying to find your balance in an on-board toilet on the run.
  • If you travel by an air-con bus, make sure to pack layers. A hoodie, a warm scarf, or a beanie hat may prove a good idea. Air-conditioning on buses tends to be excessive, and running nose and sore throats abound after even not the longest bus rides.
  • Always use the security belts even if your bus ride attendant or driver does not insist on it. Your safety comes first – for you, for sure. All buses normally are equipped with security belts, but they may be fixed behind your seat. Take time to find the belt and fix it appropriately.
  • To avoid being disturbed by overhead lights, switched on during stops even at night, and too loud music or sound from the on-board entertainment system, have earplugs and a sleeping mask at hand.
  • As a courtesy to other passengers, avoid using strong perfumes or smelly foods. Some foods like cheeses or durians are forbidden to take on-board – check in advance. Alcohol is also prohibited on the majority of buses.
  • Note that if the bus requires refuelling en-route, passengers will be asked to get off the bus. Operators are not allowed to refuel with passengers on board due to safety reasons. Usually, it takes from 5 to 10 minutes and is often combined with a toilet/lunch stop.
  • If not stated otherwise in your tickets, arrive at the bus station 20-30 minutes before departure. It will give you enough time to find the departure platform and check-in. For international trips, you may need more time for check-in and border formalities.
