Train ride was as described. Tickets were delivered to our hotel for free as promised. Train did not have a dining car so it was a good thing we brought our own snacks. Train actually arrived on time. Overall an interesting adventure.

Delivery of actual train tickets was prompt.
We were put in Cabin D with another couple from Belgium, so it wasn't a lonely night.
As I have done my research, I knew I had to bring longyi to cover myself. The operation did give pillow and sheet, but it's very random, some bed have, and some beds don't.
Make sure to download an off-line map to know whereabouts I am, as the announcement was in Burmese.
It was an experience that is enough, just for once. Won't do it again. I use my own scarf to cover. BTW Cabin F is more private as there are only 2 beds.

12 go Asia are terrible but I finally got the ticket only 12 hours before the train.
Use BOOKAWAY instead. A far better service. Unlike twelve go asia, BOOKAWAY offers excellent and prompt service and a way to contact the company should you need or want to. Tickets came through very quickly with BOOKAWAY but too close for stress free travel with 12 go asia.

The train was as previously reviewed by others : very noisy & bumpy, but a good insight into local life & scenery. At this time of year it is also quite cold at night. We were really pleased to have had the experience, but wouldn't be too inclined to repeat it soon (though the track upgrade work is visibly underway).

Der Preis auf der Seite ist total überteuert meiner Meinung nach. Das Zugticket kostet nur 4000 Kyat und kann ohne Probleme einen Tag im voraus oder am gleichen Tag am Bahnhof gekauft werden.

We reserved the whole 4-berth compartment with 2 people.
Trip was very interesting. You can see the every day life of the local people in urban areas.
I would go for a bus if you care about comfortability, because the train does not have air conditioning and you will be covered by sand that consistently blows in from the window.

A unique experience & must do, take plenty of warm clothes and/or a blanket though coz it gets very cold over night & don’t expectalot of sleep as it’s very noisy & bumpy. Another tip, beware of the guys at Yango Stn in fluro tops wanting to take your bags, as it can prove very costly!

Long slow train trip. Got quite cold at night. Very bumpy and stops at every possible stop on the way. They will ask you what time you want dinner but this is not included, it costs extra. Only 2 people to a sleeper so pretty Private. Keep the door shut and the hawkers will leave you alone.

Travelled on 8am train. Even though the cabin is not air-conditioned (with ceiling fan), the sofa chair smells a little bad, I was able to sleep through the journey because the weather is cooling.

Unser Sleeper-Abteil war einfach nur schmutzig. Die letzte Reinigung muss Jahre her sein. Das Essen das im Zug angeboten wird ist grenzwertig, sowohl die Qualität als auch die Sauberkeit. Landschaftlich kriegt man schon sehr viel mehr mit als wenn man mit Bus/Flugzeug reisen würde. Dies ist das einzige Plus. Sonst eher nur für Hardcore-Turis zu empfehlen. Wir würden die Reise mit diesem Zug nicht mehr machen.

The train left Yangon exactly on time, but due to maintenance work on the tracks we arrived about two hours later than scheduled. The seats were comfortable and the sights are great. I would do the trip any time again and even though it takes much longer than by bus, it’s worth it.
The ordering and pickup of the tickets worked exactly as planned and the lady at the agency was very friendly.

Everyone said: do NOT by any chance take the train. Well it wasn't that bad. The chairs were comfy but old. We couldn't adjust the back rest and the windows were a bit tricky. But since everyone had the windows always open there was no need to try and close them anyways. It was pretty cold when we started the trip at 7 am but once the sun came up it was warm and just nice. I really liked the view. Not particularly pretty but interesting to see the simple life of the farmers. I enjoyed the ride for about half the time: it took us 8 hours!!! and that was a bit too much for that distance (~180 km). We had far worse bus trips in Asia (unlikely to be killed by a train driver), hence 3 stars.

Everything went fine. After arriving in Yangon by flight we went to the fabulous luxurious Hotel Strand for beakfast and left our luggage in the story (even though we didn´t have a bookung for that hotel!). After breakfast we walked (30 min) to the travel-agency Pegu-Travel (new adress, a bit hard to find!) and got our train-tickets for the night train to Mandalay (17:00 sleeper, 16h). The train was great adventure!!! 4 people in a sleeper compartement, toilet available, super loud and rumeling night, but emazing! you can sleep when you are dead!

The service is over priced - basically a $10+ charge on top of the normal (very cheap, like a couple of US$ train ticket). HOWEVER, I did not know what time I would come into Mandalay from Indawgyi Lake and I needed the tickets for the train at the start of a 4 day holiday weekend + had Agoda bookings for a hotel in Hsipaw. Generally, Myanmar tickets can only be bought a day in advance OR on the same day. This service gives you extra piece of mind BUT note that some Myanmar guest houses/hotels (the owner of Golden Guest House in Hsipaw took me to the station) might also help you book your tickets or send someone to get them. I was a little worried when there was no update online BUT for Myanmar/Mandalay, you must send them a ticker 2 days in advance to be safe (remember the Internet in Myanmar doesnt always work good) telling them where to deliver your tickets and they were waiting at the front desk in the morning of the day before my 4AM train so I could spend the day touring some neighboring cities rather than at the train station trying to figure out how to buy tickets....

The journey was fine, but took 7 hours longer than advertised, which meant that I missed out on being able to meet my friends and was left on a train without any idea of when I would arrive, and with not enough food or water. This meant that the final part of the journey was very uncomfortable and confusing, particularly as I was in an unfamiliar country and did not have access to wifi to contact my friends to tell them I was running late.

The tickets were delivered as arranged. However, a very expensive service...over 7 times the cost of the ticket. Recommended if you really can't get tickets locally but I will try and avoid in future due to this mark up.

Our trip on the 5pm sleeper from Yangon to Mandalay was lots of fun. We shared a 4 berth sleeper compartment with a Burmese couple. It was a corridor sleeper carriage so we dined in the restaurant car. Reasonable food but quite pricey! We managed to get some sleep overnight. Recommended to do this at least once in Myanmar.

So.... first class sleeper in Myanmar is not what you'd see elsewhere in the world. Take a jacket or extra blanket and pack snacks. The sleeper is not assessed from the rest of the train.... I'd do it again I. A heartbeat, just better prepared.

2 berth sleeper was ok but train very noisy, rattling & shaky. Train broke down, didn’t move for 5 hours, then finally 7 hours late on arrival. No information or communication provided at all. No apology.

The train left on time and arrived in Bagan at 11am. The 12go arrival time of 9.30 is incorrect.
We booked all 4 berths and had lots of room. Watch out for people selling food for the journey on platform - they are charming but try to charge far too much. We ordered sweet and sour chicken with fried rice from the official train steward who advised we would get it at 7pm and sure enough we arrived at a station and the food was handed to us. It was very tasty and plenty for 2 people - cost 6,000 kyat.
We enjoyed the journey through the countryside and slept reasonably well. A pillow and sheet are provided. As it got cooler we switched off the fan. For security during the night we closed the windows and doors.
The toilet facilities were fine - take own toilet paper. There was some water to ‘flush’ with.
All in all a trip well worth doing

We elected to pick up our tickets at the office. It was very hard to find. The directions were not accurate, and when we finally find it we were sent to another office down the street. Very frustrating and unprofessional. The train ride was just as described.

A must do once trip !. Not much sleep with the rocking and noise but what a way to see the countryside. Food good, though a little expensive for what is was. Toilet was basic , it’s all you need.

The only thing that was helpful - delivery of tickets to hotel.
The train station is difficult in navigation, no English instructions, no English speaking employees. I had to catch people outside to help me find train. The train itself is also stinky, dirty and cold. But at least it departures and arrives on time

Service of 12GO was perfect, with my ticket delivered to the hotel in the morning of departure.
The train left Mandalay Central 9:00p.m. sharp, and arrived in Bagan only 15-20 mins. behind the schedule.
The floor under my seat was very dirty with lots of egg shells, however, all other places looked clean enough.
As the train sways a lot, you feel as if you were on boat. So, if you get motion sickness easily, I recommend that you should not take train.
The seat was big enough and comfortable to sleep in, but the window next to my seat was broken, and I couldn't close it. Freeeezing!!!

Like the previous review, our schedule was fixed and we only got confirmation 2 days before departure. The service charges seemed high for the anxiety, minimal communication and service. The train was as expected from other reviews and l have experienced sleeper trains in India, but it took much longer and was swaying so much that l was actually concerned for my safety. Typically l enjoy the train to see the countryside but l trip is enough in Myanmar.
