Плюсы путешествия на автобусе
- Автобус – лучший вариант, чтобы добраться до локаций, которые не связаны жд веткой или авиасообщением. Автобусная сеть часто охватывает всю страну, а маршруты давно сформированы и обкатаны.
- В отличие от авиаперелетов и иногда – жд поездок приезжать на автостанцию сильно заранее необходимости нет. Регистрация, даже на международных автобусных рейсах, как правило, не занимает много времени. Допуски по багажу тоже весьма и весьма приятные, а если лимиты на вес багажа все-таки установлены, то доплата за перевес почти всегда совсем невысокая.
- Билеты на автобус обычно более доступны, чем билеты на самолет или скорый поезд. Разнообразие классов и тарифов ориентировано на любой кошелек. Самые дешевые варианты, возможно, не самый быстрый способ прибыть в пункт назначения, но свою работу автобусы в любом случае делают. На более длинных маршрутах есть либо туалеты в салоне, либо остановки, билет включает снеки, воду, иногда туалетные принадлежности, одеяла и прочие полезные и приятные вещи.
- Если вы готовы потратить чуть больше, то некоторые ВИПы по комфорту и обслуживанию могут вполне соперничать с бизнес-классом на самолетах: широкие мягкие раскладывающиеся кресла, одеяла, меньшее, по сравнению с обычными автобусами, число пассажиров и прочие бонусы очень скрашивают впечатления от поездки.
Минусы путешествия на автобусе
- Новые междугородние автобусные терминалы нередко расположены на окраине города у оживленных шоссе, чтобы автобусы не вставали в городские пробки. Для путешественника в этом не только плюс, но и минус. Добираться до таких терминалов бывает непросто или долго, плюс в некоторых локациях обслуживать терминалы разрешается не любому транспорту – т.е. даже некоторые службы такси туда не допускают. Как результат – спекулятивные цены на перевозку. Если нужно выезжать в часы-пик, не забывайте заложить дополнительное время на поездку.
- Автобус, наверное, вид транспорта, который наиболее подвержен задержкам и нарушению расписания – если сравнивать с самолетами или поездами. Причин может быть великое множество – от ДТП до ремонта дороги, объезда и т.д. Ситуация ухудшается в дни государственных праздников, длинные выходные, высокий сезон. Учитывайте этот момент и не планируйте коротких стыковок.
- Если вы планируете поездку по одному из наиболее востребованных маршрутов и/или в высокий сезон, стоит озаботиться заблаговременным бронированием билетов. Учитывайте, что просто прийти на автовокзал и уехать ближайшим рейсом возможно далеко не всегда: билеты вполне могут быть распроданы, так что планируйте заранее.

Wir sind mit dem Sleeping Bus + Mini Van von Vientiane nach Nakasong bzw. Don Khong gereist.
Der Sleeping Bus in Vientiane ist pünktlich um 20.00 Uhr abgefahren. Der Bus war etwas heruntergekommen, die Fahrt manchmal holprig und das Bett recht klein, aber insgesamt alles in Ordnung. Wenn man als Paar reist, ist 1 Bett (= 2 Tickets) ok, ansonsten besser pro Person 1 Bett alleine buchen (= 2 Tickets). Im Bett gab es 2 Decken und 2 Kissen. Im Bus waren Mitarbeiter, die sich darum gekümmert haben, dass jeder am richtigen Ort aussteigt. Es gab für jeden ein kostenloses Wasser und ein Erfrischungstuch.
Als wir am Vormittag in Pakse angekommen sind, war der Minivan bereits abfahrbereit und ist direkt losgefahren. Nach ein paar wenigen Stopps sind wir bis Nakasong gefahren. Dort ist eine kurze Strecke bis zum Hafen, an welchem man sich ein Ticket für die Fahrt nach Don Det (20.000 Kip) sowie Don Khong (30.000 Kip) kaufen kann (Stand Dezember 2023).
Wir können die Fahrt mit Green Paradise weiterempfehlen.

We were a little bit Lost In Nakasang end where to go, which boat to take, is the boat trip included in the ticket etc. The minivan left us 200 m from the boat, no instructions provided.

Important to know: I was told to go to Green Travel in Pakse for 7pm. When I arrived there, the place was shut and I was left on the curb in the dark, not knowing what was going on and unable to get in contact with Green Travel or 12Go Asia. However, a tuktuk driver will come and pick you up to take you to the bus station. This was not communicated to me, and I felt people should know that is going to happen so they don’t feel unsafe.
Not the fault of the company or driver, the road conditions are just insanely bumpy and when adding that to being squished next to a stranger not much sleep was achieved. It can’t be helped and is just a part of travelling.

We were picked up by driver from hotel and taken straight to Don Det which wasn’t what we were told would happen. We were told we would go to office first so planned to get food and water from the shop by the office before the trip so we ended up going without.
However the journey was much shorter than it advised so we were fine. We arrived an hour ahead of time after getting the boat from the mainland.

Be careful when booking if you’re booking one of the local busses or a VIP bus. We have booked a local bus that took 12 hours (including two breakdowns of the bus), smelled strange, was rather old and uncomfortable (no proper seats but bunk beds) and did not go faster than 60 km/h. Bring some time and patience when booking a local bus and lower your expectations.

Arrived 4.5 hours late, the coach had no curtains so was boiling hot in the sun. Had air con but not very effective. Two people to a ‘bed’ which as average sized westerners was not very comfortable. We made many stops. One stop we were at for close to two hours, no indication as to how long we would be there, whether it would be long enough to eat a proper meal, so went for the whole 10.5 hour journey on only crisps. They also allow locals selling giant, very pungent sticks of meat on board every few hours which is not pleasant for us as vegetarians. Fortunately there was still a hotel open for us to check into as it was gone midnight by the time we arrived.

we are french and were surprised by the quality of the support of the company ... we made the trip pakse don khone go back to laos and our agent organized the teansports to the little ferry and tuk tuk to airport calling us on whatsapp to check that everything was fine ... we dream that such a service could exist in France ... thanks again Souvanh!!! The 12go asia description just mentions a sleeper bus - no other changes of transport during our journey. If there were other travel options, such as bus+van, which we saw when booking, we would not have booked it; we booked this because we thought it was one bus. When we get to the ticket office we were told we switch over once to another van and we would arrive the next day at 4pm, making the trip 20 hours. The trip ended up putting us into 4 different busses over a 27 hour trip, where we stopped to pick up more people when there was no room in the van. Our driver was friendly, but overall this experience was one I hope to never do again.

The sleeper bus was relatively on time and the comfort level was mediocre with flat but fairly hard and short beds. But you really had to be at the bus station one hour earlier to receive a physical ticket with your seats and to embark the bus 20mins before.
We arrived in Pakse on time at shortly after 6 a.m. to change to a minivan.
However, the minivan did not come and leave until 8 even though all passengers had arrived around 6. Thus, we arrived 2 hours later than expected on the shore to board the ferry to Don Det.

Extremely bumpy, no communication about stops being made along the way social of us were very confused about whether we should be getting off or not. Limited communication prior to the trip regarding steps in the journey - got off the bus and were told other transport would pick us up in 30 mins. 2 hours later it arrived. Then taken to a waiting area where we waited another 20 mins for a minivan (3rd transport). We were all going to separate places and would just stop on the side of the road leaving us very confused - we weren’t sure if these were rest stops or if people were meant to be getting off the minivan. What was advertised as a 13 hour journey actually became 17 hours and just very poor communication throughout

Late picking us up. Drove us to another place to join a packed van.The van's air conditioning was leaking on us. When we finished the journey on van no one told us where to walk to get the connecting boat to Don Det. Though we had a ticket for the boat, no one told us we needed to exchange the ticket for another.

Sleeper bus from Vientiane was fine, a bit cramped but is to be expected.
We weren't informed that there would be a change at Pakse to make the final stretch to Don Det. Arrived at Pakse at 6:40am and were told we'd be leaving at 8am, when the arrival time for Don Det was going to be 9am. When we asked the tour operator this he just laughed at our group. When we got on the next bus it was very outdated, leaking water onto other passengers and myself but not before driving around Pakse for another hour at least. The rest of the Journey was fine but uncomfortable. Eventually arrived in Don Det 4 hours later than told on the booking.
If the journey takes 16 hours at least, just say that, don't advertise it as 13 with no changes.

Green Paradise provided an excellent service- they picked us up from our hotel and we had no issues with the river crossing. However 12Go charged me for texts which it did not then send.

They got me there safely but it was not a comfortable experience. I understand the need to maximize the space available in the vehicle, but at a certain point it becomes dangerous. Especially with the road and traffic conditions.

We bought an overpriced ticket on the belief it was a VIP bus that would take 13 hours. Instead our bus was the same as all the cheaper alternatives and took 3 hours longer than advertised. The bus was cramped and uncomfortable and we did not get any sleep!

I don't think it said anywhere I was going to be sharing a small bed with a stranger for 10 hours. In that limited space and with the bathroom smelling mostly like pee, wifting out in the bus, it was pretty uncomfortable

I have applied for a discount because the service arrived three hours late. I paid for the higher price to arrive at 6 am but it arrived at nearly 9 am. I was not comfortable. I am too old too to Sleep in a sleeper bus. The extra three hours after a long trip is really not enjoyable. The toilet on the bus is cramped and hard to use. But they did stop halfway for people to use a proper toilet.

I paid $23 before fees and taxes for a minivan but they put me on a bus instead with no explanation and no partial refund when the bus ticket was more than 50% less. The bus ride was okay though.

We arrived 5:00 in Pakse instead of 7:00 and had to wait 3h in the cold for the minivan without anyone telling us something.
The sleeper bus itself was very old, tiny short hard beds, impossible to sleep. Overall just a very rough night and disappointing experience
