Плюсы путешествия на автобусе
- Автобус – лучший вариант, чтобы добраться до локаций, которые не связаны жд веткой или авиасообщением. Автобусная сеть часто охватывает всю страну, а маршруты давно сформированы и обкатаны.
- В отличие от авиаперелетов и иногда – жд поездок приезжать на автостанцию сильно заранее необходимости нет. Регистрация, даже на международных автобусных рейсах, как правило, не занимает много времени. Допуски по багажу тоже весьма и весьма приятные, а если лимиты на вес багажа все-таки установлены, то доплата за перевес почти всегда совсем невысокая.
- Билеты на автобус обычно более доступны, чем билеты на самолет или скорый поезд. Разнообразие классов и тарифов ориентировано на любой кошелек. Самые дешевые варианты, возможно, не самый быстрый способ прибыть в пункт назначения, но свою работу автобусы в любом случае делают. На более длинных маршрутах есть либо туалеты в салоне, либо остановки, билет включает снеки, воду, иногда туалетные принадлежности, одеяла и прочие полезные и приятные вещи.
- Если вы готовы потратить чуть больше, то некоторые ВИПы по комфорту и обслуживанию могут вполне соперничать с бизнес-классом на самолетах: широкие мягкие раскладывающиеся кресла, одеяла, меньшее, по сравнению с обычными автобусами, число пассажиров и прочие бонусы очень скрашивают впечатления от поездки.
Минусы путешествия на автобусе
- Новые междугородние автобусные терминалы нередко расположены на окраине города у оживленных шоссе, чтобы автобусы не вставали в городские пробки. Для путешественника в этом не только плюс, но и минус. Добираться до таких терминалов бывает непросто или долго, плюс в некоторых локациях обслуживать терминалы разрешается не любому транспорту – т.е. даже некоторые службы такси туда не допускают. Как результат – спекулятивные цены на перевозку. Если нужно выезжать в часы-пик, не забывайте заложить дополнительное время на поездку.
- Автобус, наверное, вид транспорта, который наиболее подвержен задержкам и нарушению расписания – если сравнивать с самолетами или поездами. Причин может быть великое множество – от ДТП до ремонта дороги, объезда и т.д. Ситуация ухудшается в дни государственных праздников, длинные выходные, высокий сезон. Учитывайте этот момент и не планируйте коротких стыковок.
- Если вы планируете поездку по одному из наиболее востребованных маршрутов и/или в высокий сезон, стоит озаботиться заблаговременным бронированием билетов. Учитывайте, что просто прийти на автовокзал и уехать ближайшим рейсом возможно далеко не всегда: билеты вполне могут быть распроданы, так что планируйте заранее.

From Siem Real to Pakse all the transport was handled by AVT and was great. From Pakse to Vientiane we boarded a bus from a different company they had subcontracted too which was atrocious. The bus was overbooked so we didn’t even get the two beds we paid for leading to an uncomfortable journey.

The vans are ok but not very comfortable as men usually have large shoulders and the seats are a bit narrow.
Tourists shold be told to try and make their border process as swftly as possible for respect for the others who are waiting, including drivers.

Free pickup from the nearby hotel. Young and very capable driver. We were not informed that we have a one hour break just 1 hour before arriving at the border. It appeared logical as he remainder of the trip requires a 4 wheel drive vehicle. About 30 minutes after all border formalities darkness started.

El recorrido desde Phnom Penh Hasta Don Det es largo, pero la logística de recogida, cambios de vehículos durante el trayecto e incluso el transporte en lancha de río hasta llegar Don Det esta bastante bien coordinada por parte de la empresa que presta el servicio. Realmente, desde que te recogen en tu hotel en Phnom Penh, hasta que llegas al puerto en Don Det, pasan más de las horas que te indican en 12Go, en mi caso fueron casi 12 horas en total incluyendo tiempos de espera en restaurante, pasos de frontera y transporte como tal. No dejo las 5 estrellas porque sería ideal que todos los conductores pudieran comunicarse con los extranjeros en un inglés, así sea básico, para facilitar y hacer más agradable la experiencia. Aunque algunos de los varios conductores que me tocaron en mi recorrido hablaban inglés, hubo uno que no lo hacía (quien me recogió en Phnom Penh y me dejó en u restaurante donde esperas el vehículo que te lleva hasta la frontera donde sales de Camboya)

Arrived 30 minutes early. Picked up on time. Dropped to the correct destination. Did have to get in 3 different mini vans and a tuk tuk which was not mentioned but was fine. Car was not 3 years old or newer like advertised, much older. But overall good

Die ganze Reise war super gut organisiert. Wir wurden komplett durchgeleitet bis Laos mit verschiedenen Mitarbeitenden. Wir hatten auch gute klimatisierte Vans und es war sehr komfortabel. Einzig an der Grenze mussten wir auf den nächsten Van ca 40min warten, aber das war total ok. Bei uns ging es an der Grenze recht schnell.

After a complicated start, everything went well !
They told us to go to Maneth Transportation in the morning, but it was closed ! In fact, we had to stay at our guesthouse, and the minivan came to get us directly there (with 45min late). Don’t panic haha and send them an email to be sure that they’ll come at your hostel.
After this start, everything went well : the drivers were super nice and we arrived on time !

1) they ask us to take the boat from don det to the mainland at, 9:00 am, but when arriving we still need to wait 40 min...
Why not make everyone arrive at same time or take boat at 9:30 ?
2) They only stop for eating at a certain place (stung treng i think )where THERE IS ONLY ONE RESTAURANT AVAILABLE NEARBY ASKING 4X THE AVERAGE PRICE OF A LOCAL RESTAURANT AND TASTES BELOW AVERAGE.
THIS IS REALLY SOMETHING THAT CAN NOT BE DONE. DROP US OF SOMEWHERE WHERE WE CAN CHOOSE WHAT & WHERE WE WANT TO EAT. WE RE JUST BEING RIPPED OFF.
Coca cola costs: 2,5$, what a joke => 7eleven coca is at 0,66$
Instant noodles costs 2,5$ => same noodle at 7eleven costs 0,60$
3) Also when stopping for lunch, we dont know how long we have and when we ask when do we leave, they keep saying 10 min, 10 min.
We left finally like 1h after the stop which was only supposed to be 30 min
4) They ask at least 10 times to check tickets
The free dropoff to our hotels was nice and the 2 drivers in cambodia were really kind !

Everything on time, well organized, I was always confident that I would arrive where I wanted to go, at approximate time expected. The 2nd van to Banlung not very comfy, AC barely worked on a hot day. But bearable. Driver didn’t speak English, I was the only non Cambodian on the bus. All fine it just makes it a bit more difficult to understand what’s going on.

The trip itself was good and well organized. Just the driver were a bit odd as they were not talking to us at all and just stopping somewhere without saying where to go now. So it was good that AVT provides you with a detailed PDF.

Phnom Penh - Don Det.
Well organised trip. Got a desription of the itinerary (with pictures) per email beforehand, which was really helpful, especially since the driver didn't really speak English. In short it was a Van until Stung Treng, different Van to the border, Songthaew to Nakasang and boat to Don Det.
Departure was a bit late. There was nobody to speak to at the departure point, but the company sent me a whatsapp message to inform me about the delay (which I only read later, because I didn't have internet). Lots of random stops before we really got going. The first driver was speeding and honking all the way. I've done quite a few bus trips in SEA already and I know the driving is different here. But this driver was driving like the street belonged to him alone and I didn't feel comfortable. One time he almost hit a scooter driver. The change in Stung Treng went smoothly and before the border we got the visa application form and had the opportunity to get a photo taken. Also after the border everything went as planned. We arrived on Don Det at around 17:45.
Only other thing I could complain about is that despite the quite high price there are no snacks or drinks (not even water) included (but that wasn't advertised either). All in all I can recommend this journey.

Buena experiencia, todo súper explicado incluso una persona de la empresa me hablo por whatsapp al principio del viaje para preguntarme como iba y explicarme las instrucciones del viaje. Lo único que la minivan es muy poco espaciosa, apenas cambiamos y son 6 horas

First ride to stung Treng was very good. From there to Kratie they were to many people in the bus and they were transporting 250 KG of sugar in the aisle where the locals sit on. Funny but uncomfortable.

Mean owner, no bus was waiting when we arrived in Lao, we had to jump on a truck with no safety and people on the roof.

The buses were ok. Had to wait in Champasak for over an hour whilst they changed the bus (probably for safety reasons) the driver once we got into cambodia was lovely

The people were really friendly and everything happened as they said it would. The only thing was that we were cramped in the back of the minivan even though we paid for 3 seats for the 2 of us to try and avoid this. However, when we arrived in Siem Reap they gave us back the money for the third seat!!!! We didn't even ask - now that's what I call service.

Website was easy to use. Tickets were given at the company's office once we showed the voucher. Information about contacting company provided via emails. The company took care if everything for the price of the ticket. Hotel pick up, buses to the border, bus from the Laos border to Nakasang and the boat to the islands. The brief explanation was given at the first office. Guys know what they doing.

We received a email about the exact location and the mini-van arrived just at the right time. He gave us tickets for the following minivans and boat. The minivan was Indeed quite récent, but you have only a belt for the belly and not for the torso, which i think is useless (thats why the minus one star). To be fair, all the minivans are like this. We eat at Stoeng Troeng for one hour and the Price for the food was really fair. Then we headed to the border on another bus. After the border, a smaller mini-van took us to the Pier to take the boat to Don Det. It was really smooth and the drivers were nice and helpul.

Le mini van depuis Nakasang était surchargé. Arrivés à la frontière, la police des frontières était odieuse et agressive. « Mr Hout » n’a servi à rien, sauf à nous échanger nos billets. Très mauvais départ.
Mais le pire était à venir...
Le mini van suivant prévu pour 11 personnes avec un coffre ne pouvant contenir que 2 sacs. Il y avait des sacs plein le véhicule. Une famille de 4 devait voyager sur 3 sièges (alors qu’ils avaient payé pour 4 places). Nous avons dû hausser le ton pour imposer qu’ils voyagent correctement. A chaque virage , les sacs à dos tombaient sur les passagers et les enfants. C’est nous qui avons dû fixer les sacs à dos au 1er arrêt. Alors que le van était surchargé, le chauffeur s’est arrêté pour prendre...2 personnes de sa famille en plus !
Qui se sont installées entre le passager et le chauffeur.
Au niveau sécurité, le niveau était à zéro : personne n’était attaché, des sacs à dos partout, 4 personnes devant.
Nous avons payé $29 pour ce voyage. D’autres passagers : $19 !
Nous sommes partis de Don Det ensemble et avons fait le même trajet, dans les mêmes conditions. Pour quoi avons nous payé si cher, sans aucune prestation différente ?
AVT ne peux pas proposer des services d’agence de voyage sans réellement assurer derrière.

We have leave at 8.30, normally it was 7.30. In the minibus they had two peuple in more so it's quite dangerous on the road. The only good point was the drivers who drive quite safety.

I give 5 stars, even though we started the trip with two hours of delay, and so i arrived 3 hours later than expected, which meant that i lost all connections but i have never had before such a great Service and help for a trip. All the avt staff was extrem kindly an helpful, also crossing the border and they arraged everything to continue the trip. So i see my trip to don det as a little adventure, think positive. And i got a refund of 50% of the ticket for the inconveniences

We didn’t have a choice as we were going from Phnom Penh to don det and AVT is the only company performing the transfer
So we picked them even though het had some bad reviews ( that I agree with btw)
Do not expect any luxury car based on the price you pay
They take you from point A to B more or less safely but service is not great , we waited an hour in Phnom Penh for no reason and the service in Laos is very bad
But we got to our destination hopefully in one piece

Comfortable enough minivan. Didn’t seem to take as long as was quoted which was good. However lots of waiting around once we had crossed the border and lots of stopping and starting along the way.

We were picked us at the hotel.in Pakse. We were the last one so we had to sit down on the back, with the luggages that bumping me all time because of the road's potholes. Besides, seats were so much tight that I couldn't breathe. When we get to the border of Cambodia, we had to leave the minivan and cross the frontier by walking. After that, we had to get into another minivan worse than the last one. This time, the seats available were foldable seat, very tight and without headrest. The minivan was to much dirty and the trip very uncomfortable till to get to a Cambodian city where we finally could have a minivan according with the price and service paid. 30€/person paid for the travel we finally had, is to much. The service in Laos, terrible. The service in Siam Reap, good.

We were picked up by tuk tuk at our hotel to the minibus. 1st driver very speed and not talkative, changed bus at stung sreng to the border after lunch. Nice driver but bus not too comfy. Last bus to Pakse very nice with a drop off at our hotel

À préciser qu à la frontière du Laos nous avons été interpellées de façon « autoritaire » pour remplir le formulaire du visa et que l une des personnes s est présentée comme le frère de M. Hout quand nous avons fait référence à AVT.

Well explained about the trip at siem reap end. But we when got to the town before the border we were told to get out that he going back to siem reap. We were not advised and was unclear what was happening we waited two hours there before we drove to the border. The drivers were all good felt safe

Very detailed email from the company however the bus was late to arrive and had no seatbelts for a very bumpy windy journey. Changed buses half way, much better and more space for everyone.

Was pickup from hotel on time, in Pakse, in a good looking van. Did the rounds to get other guests and then we were driven to a location there in Pakse where we all transferred to an old beat up local bus. I was told that I was going to be traveling in a modern van. No, it was an old bus with very bad suspension. It’s AC was good, though. Exiting Lao and entering Cambodia, both sets of bureaucrats will rip you off. The Cambodian ones will literally bark at you and try to order you around. I sternly put a stop to that nonsense as I screamed louder than they did: it worked. The last leg into Siem Reap the driver decided to pickup a local lady, a very fat one at that, and the rest of us had to accommodate for that, resulting in crammed quarters for us paying costumers. In Siem Reap the tuk tuk driver said that hotel transfer was free. I corrected him by saying that the transfer wasn’t free, that it was included in the price we paid. The roads in Cambodia aren’t as good as the ones in Lao. All in all it wasn’t too bad. After all we’re here for the experience, aren’t we.

Seats were not comfertable in the van. We waited at lunch for over 2 hours for another van to pick us up and therefore arrived in Pakse 2.5hrs late

Amazing trip, l didn't get the part l had to change mini van though. A tuk tuk came to pick me up at my hostel right on time to the agency. From there, a mini van came and drove us to a place where l had to change mini van. The second trip was fine. Great experience

Chauffeurs calmes, dans les temps, on se sent coincé à midi au relais car il n'y a rien d'autre autour et le repas est plus que moyen, 1 toilette pour 30 personnes. Content d'arriver mais rien à redire. Khop Chaï.

We got to Don Det safely and the whole trip was well organised. We were taken care of, pointed in all the necessary directions at the border and generally have no complaints here. That being said, we were two hours late at our destination and the bus that took us to Laos border lacked AC, which with 37 degrees Celsius outside was a bit of a nuisance. In a nutshell - delivered at Don Det (pier?) safely if slightly delayed and sweaty...
