시아누크빌-방콕

국경으로 가는 미니버스에 (경미한) 사고가 났지만, 30분도 채 안 되어 새 버스가 도착했습니다. 국경에서 방콕으로 가는 밴은 새 차였습니다. 거의 정시에 도착했고, 전반적으로 서비스는 좋았습니다. 국경 통과는 조금 지저분했지만, 무사히 통과했습니다.

The minibus to the border had a (minor) accident, but a new one came in less than 30 min. The van from the border to Bangkok was brand new. We almost arrived on time, good service overall. The border crossing was a bit messy but we managed

Unfortunately the trip was delayed by 7 hours. I was supposed to get to Bangkok at 11:30am but arrived at 6:30 so wasn’t the best experience. We also stopped for food and the bus driver asked me for 7 dollars for a fried rice because I didn’t ask the price beforehand so had no choice but to pay.

Sihanoukville, Cambodia -> Bangkok, Thailand Very disappointed with this experience. The other passengers and I all expected a single VIP 32 seater bus for the 12 hour journey to Bangkok. However, the VIP bus was only to the Cambodia-Thailand border, which took 3.5 hours. The rest of the journey was done in non-VET transport. At the border we were told we had to switch buses and to “stand in front of the 7/11”, with absolutely no VET staff crossing the border with us, and no VET representative stationed on the other side to meet us. And so after crossing the border we stood in front of 7/11 - not knowing what we were waiting for as we had been given no other information - for around 20-30 mins. Finally a “company rep” (it honestly seemed like a random man who had thrown on a VET t-shirt) showed up and told us to get on a local minivan to Trat, where we would then have to change again to another bus which would take us to Bangkok. This “rep” did not get on the bus with us. On arrival to Trat there was therefore no VET rep to receive us, just a random woman (with no orange shirt this time) who had a photo of us and approached us as we got off the minivan. She then walked over to the ticket counter and bought us paper tickets for a local bus going to Bangkok right in front of us, proving that our 12Go ticket had no affiliation with the final buses of our journey. We couldn’t believe what was happening. The bus finally got to Bangkok nearly an hour later than scheduled and dropped us off in a completely different part of the city than the drop-off coordinates originally provided. For a company that prides itself in stress-free border crossings, this experience was an absolute joke. They didn’t manage our expectations at all. I have gone back and checked all the information that was provided to me before the journey, and no where does it say multiple buses are to be used, or that the VIP 32 seater bus is only to the Cambodia-Thailand border. I paid $44 dollars for this journey and feel like I’ve been truly ripped off. This pales in comparison to my experience with Giant Ibis coming into Cambodia from Bangkok. There a rep was with us every step of the way, and the bus even came through the border with us. I will say this. Up until the border, the VIP experience was actually very good. We were provided with croissants, tea, coffee and water. And the bus we originally paid for and expected to take us the whole way to Bangkok was very comfortable. The staff just needed to make it clearer what to expect across the border!
