  • Contrairement à l'avion et parfois au train, prendre le bus ne nécessite pas d'arriver à la gare routière longtemps à l'avance. L'enregistrement, même sur les lignes internationales, ne prend que peu de temps. Le nombre de bagages inclus dans le prix de base est généralement très favorable aux voyageurs, et les frais pour les bagages supplémentaires, s’il y a une limite, ne sont généralement pas très élevés.
  • Les billets de bus sont souvent plus abordables que les billets d'avion ou de train rapide. Il y a un large choix de classe de billet, et des options pour toutes les bourses. Les options standard, les moins chères, sont souvent un peu lentes et n’offre pas un confort maximal, mais elles sont quand même acceptables et vous amènent à destination. Sur les trajets plus longs, les toilettes ou les arrêts sur les aires de repos ainsi que les snacks, les rafraichissements et parfois les articles de toilette et les couvertures sont presque toujours inclus dans le tarif.

Inconvénients des Voyages en Bus

  • Les terminaux d'autobus interurbains les plus récents sont très souvent situés en dehors de la ville, à proximité des grandes autoroutes, afin de permettre aux autobus d'éviter les embouteillages urbains. Malheureusement, cela peut aussi créer des difficultés pour les voyageurs. Se rendre à ce type de terminal peut être un problème, car pour certaines destinations, il existe des restrictions sur les véhicules autorisés à entrer dans le terminal, et vous devrez utiliser les transporteurs autorisés pour vous y rendre. Cela entraîne des coûts supplémentaires, car les tarifs peuvent être gonflés. Prévoyez également du temps supplémentaire si vous partez aux heures de pointe, surtout si vous n'êtes pas familier avec la situation du trafic routier à votre point de départ.
  • Le bus est probablement le moyen de transport qui connaît le plus de retards si on le compare au train ou à l’avion. Les bus dépendent fortement du trafic routier qui peut parfois être imprévisible - accidents, travaux, déviations, etc. C'est particulièrement vrai pour les trajets effectués pendant les week-ends, la saison haute ou les jours fériés. The pick up at the restaurant was weird. You can be there at 17.00 of you already have eaten something. The bus was very comfortable and had toilet. The crossing at the border was no problem and did not take longer than 30min. We stopped halfway, around 00:00 to eat. Do not forget your bus ticket is also a food coupon at this place.

pickup location and time were unclear. Vien-pak Sleeper bus was comfortable, and cozy with 2 people sharing the bed. Pakse-don det bus service was erratic and communication was poor. Delayed for an hour because of one passenger. Arrived in one piece, so I guess it's all fine.

The bus was on-time (actually got to Luang Prabang early), but the conditions were pretty bad. The shuttle that takes you to the bus station at 18:00 didn't mention that you have to wait 2.5 hours at the station (food stalls close by the time you arrive). Also, the bus operators have no idea what assigned seats mean. It's mostly first-come first-serve and everyone ignores their ticket's seat number. It was a hassle finding a bed and the sheets smelled terrible.

Bus was very comfortable and hardly anyone on it so we could all spread out. But very spacious anyway. Driver good enough, a bit grumpy but that’s ok. Snack pack given out. Visa process in Laos was quick. Was early to Luang Namtha BUT got dropped as bus terminal out of town and no tuk tuks or taxis at night. Had to hitch hike which as a lone female was frightening. Only time I could arrive though was 9pm. Contact your hotel before to see if they can pick you up. Other than that v good experience though.

Plutôt bon rapport qualité/prix. Il y a de tout dans les bus ! Nous étions sur des sièges individuels couchette. Nous avons par contre attendu très longtemps notre bus ! Rdv à 18h à l’hotel Haysoke pour ne partir qu’à 20h30 !! 2h d’attente à la gare routière qui n’est pas des plus funky ...

Communication on what bus to get was poor, we got told to stay on transport which was going to Paksa when we were going to Luang Prabang. The driving was crazy and my partner was unable to sleep more than 2hrs. Air conditioning was good and bed wasn’t too bad.

I bought the ticket via 12go and I am aware that they are only selling the ticket and are not operating the buses. The bus had 12-15 passengers, give or take, during the tour. The trip between Vientiane and Luang Prabang was interesting and I can summarize it as: Pro: - We made it all the way without any incidents . That said there was several near-misses and some serious incidents observed on the way (see below) - The driver of the bus was politely and friendly - The air-con was not to cold (which is often a problem on this buses) - Plenty of stops en-route (might be annoying for some) ensured that the engine - and most importantly - the brakes could cool down before continue the ride. Con: - We observed a truck involved in a "front to front" collision with another heavy vehicle. This caused some delays both southbound and northbound. - We observed an incident involving two motorcycles with at least two fatalities. Shocking! - I showed up the 1 hour before pick up (as instructed on the ticket) just to experience that I had to wait for 1 hour and 20 minutes for the pick-up. - At the bus station there was some confusion about which bus to take, wen it was leaving etc, but it was sorted out in the end. - The bus was old, noisy and had seen better days. But remember- this is Laos - The roads was bumpy, and to some extent, unpaved. But remember- this is Laos

-do not state which bus terminal. Yes, they’re opposite and I was fortunate in having not much luggage as I went to the wrong one. Others had a lot to carry across the main road! -very hard to find the bus counter as one is inclined to look for Naga Travel when it’s actually something like ‘99’ -Company did not and still have not responded to my email sent 5 days before bus. If they had, I could have gone to the right terminal... -snacks were nice -sleeper bus never chanted at Laos border. Just reclining seats -toilet had no light or flush and smelt the whole bus within an hour of departure -driver was smoking and it filtered to the coach through the endless ‘no smoking’ signs... But, as all the other reviews are the same comments, Naga Travel clearly has no intention of doing anything!

It was not a sleeper bus. The only quality that could hint to a sleeper bus is that the seat reclined a bit. Only problem was that if you actually did recline the (highly uncomfortable) seat back it hits the person behind you and takes away the already non excisting leg space. In the ticket it said that it could be an older bus but that once you crossed the boarder the bus would change into a sleeper class bus. It did not. The bus ride lasted abou 20-21 hours so you can imagine the joy. I was quite dissapointed as was the whole bus full of people. I am quite short (5'2/157cm) but I left the bus with sore legs, back, neck and arse. I dont want to imagine what it would have been like for someone taller. The thought that kept occurring to me during the journey was: my school bus at home is more comfirtable than this. At least there's wifi on that. On a positive note the staff was very nice, the snacks they gave were good as well and you meet a lot of nice, new people who also think the bus is horrible. That's at least something to bond over.

The staff were nice and very helpful and explained what was going on and sold us SIM cards. Luckily we were a couple so the seat/bed that you have to share was fine, but if you’re on your own may be slightly weird sharing with a stranger as they’re not large.

Pick-up was almost 1h late and the real departure time is actually 20h30. They take you from Haysoke guesthouse to the bus station. The bus was good but the beds really small (2 people on every bed and it was not specified in the booking). The bus was on time and arrived at Luang Prabang around 7h30 am.

The problem is GoAsia. They sell a trip that does not exist. It said Naga travel leaving 9am. But there is no Naga 9am trip from vientiane, only the 9.30 Soutchai one. This one left only after 10am. Trip itself fine.

We booked on 12go.asia. Unfortunatly they charged more to book the bus than the cost of the bus itself. If you book the bus with a local travel shop or at the bus terminal itself it’s much cheaper. On the site it’s also sold as an VIP bus, when it’s just a normaal sleepingbus with not much of sleepingspace.

22 hours with no sleeping bus. No lights at the toilet and was smelling really bad. Hopefully i had bought some snacks and water because the bus did no stop for this until 19 hours later. Good thing is that drivers seemed friendly and could understand English.

Das Bett im Schlafbusch war die Hölle 1,1m breit für 2 Personen den Chinesen neben mir kannte ich nicht. Den nächsten morgen wollte er mich nicht mehr loslassen. Die Toilette habe ich gesehen und umgehend eine Immodium eingeworfen und nix mehr getrunken. So wie jeder im Bus. Um 17.00 sollte ich da sein 18.00 Abfahrt 20.30 sind wir dann mal losgekommen.

Considering the road is so bad the driver managed it wonderful, but don't expect to arrive on time or sleep much: it is too bumpy. No toilet on board, the driver stopped periodically and we had to pay to use toilet. Bed was clean and water was provided :)

We were booked for a VIP24 bus. A day or 2 before our trip we were contacted that it required to be changed to a van. We agreed, no problem. When we showed up to the bus terminal were were guided to a van, not in the greatest shape??? OK?? Once the trip started and we got into the mountains all of us passengers realized 2 things. The van was old and might not make the trip, and the driver did not know how to drive in the mountains. It was clear to all of us that there were better vans because ALL of them passed us as we crawled up and down the mountain pass in 1st gear. What should have been a comfortable 4 hour trip, became an uncomfortable 6 hour trip. !!!!!!!!! Can't say I got any sort of a VIP service!!

The mini bus was comfortable and the driver very experienced. There was a rest break in the middle. The journey took 4.5 hours. The road is shocking in parts but overall a good journey. The bus did not depart until 10am.

The bus trip ride was fine. Found the office on the departure morning and walked in to check about how to get our luggage to the departure point, their office. They said they would pick us up at the hotel. We ended up leaving 1.5 hours late because they didn’t tell me all we had to do was find a way to get our luggage to their office 3 blocks from our hotel and we could leave on time. Instead we waited for their shuttle serve then on the bus to fill up.

The bus left a little late and the trip took longer than posted, but overall as avertised. Though, too many passangers were booked so some sat on plastic chairs in the isle.

A bumpy ride, but quite okay, through the mountains. The bus didn’t have so much space, but the beds were fine for sleeping. At the paper it said we were supposed to leave at 18 pm but the bus took off at 20.30 pm. It also said a ride for about 13 hours, and were supposed to be in Luang Prabang at 7.00am. But the bus came in at 12pm. At the bus station tuktuk’s are ready to pick you up, but be aware that they drive you to city center and not the accommodation, even though you tell them where to go.

Very good journey, the trip was comfortable even though it was one hour late. Just take your time while traveling in Laos !!
