We booked the van that was supposed to leave at 3.30 AM. Nobody showed. We were set to go with the van that leaved 5.30 AM after the staff at the counter arrived around 4.30 AM.

A very comfortable bus, and a kind and helpful driver, perfect temperature on the bus, not too cold a/c but pleasant mild fresh temperature.

When we arrived at the bus station, we were met by an unfriendly lady who told us that our minivan was fully booked. Despite our insistence that we had reserved seats and that they had been reserved, the lady didn't care. She barely looked at us and only repeated that the minivan was fully booked and that she hadn't received any information about us. Given that we had to be in Bangkok in the evening as we had an early flight the next day, this was not acceptable. Fortunately, a gentleman and a lady finally found a solution.

The driver drove too fast even we asked him to slow down. He slowed down for 30 mins and get right back on his usual speed plus he didn't wear mask while driving.

A great experience. Clean sheets and blankets. Comfortable bed, and great AC. We were in the 2nd class overnight sleeper. I will happily do it again!

What mode of transportation is the best one for my route?

Train

Train is a often a great choice for long-haul travel especially if you opt for a night sleeper train with berths which will allow you to sleep all your journey through. To make the most of your train journey, choose the class of your ticket wisely.

Note that there are air-conditioned and fan-only carriages; private compartments for 2 or 4; hard and soft seats.
Though the upper class you get the smoother is your journey, often second class air-conditioned or fan-only sleepers are a good money saving alternative.

Van

Vans are a great alternative - or, in many cases - your only option - if you need to travel overland within one and the same province or neighbouring provinces or states. Vans ply the roads between Prachuap Khiri Khan and Bangkok, too.

Things to remember: When travelling by van with huge luggage buying a separate seat for your suitcase or backpack is a good idea. Do not expect there is a roomy luggage compartment in a van - there is actually none and your fellow passengers are unlikely to appreciate your luggage stuck under their feet, alas.
