About Phuket Travel

Company Information

Phuket Travel is a tour and bus company that specializes in a bus service between Bangkok and Phuket, and it is one of the most well known operators in Thailand for this route. The service runs between Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai) and Phuket Bus Terminal 2 (located in Phuket town, where Thoranee Thong intersects with Thepkrasattri Road).

Routes served by Phuket Travel

The company runs a daily schedule of four departures every day in both directions, and the journey duration is around 14 hours. They do not run a morning service, so all journeys are overnight.

Bangkok–Phuket

From Bangkok to Phuket, the departure times are 4.30pm (Express), 5.40pm (VIP), and two departures at 7.30pm (an Express and a VIP service).

Phuket–Bangkok

From Phuket to Bangkok, the departure times are 4.30pm (Express), 5.20pm (VIP), 6.30pm (Express) and 7.00pm (VIP).

Bangkok–Phang Nga

There’s also a more limited service between Bangkok and Phang Nga, with two overnight buses leaving between 6pm and 7pm daily.

Keep in mind

Phuket Travel has two types of bus - the Standard Express and the VIP. The Standard Express is adequate if you are on a budget, with a ticket costing around THB650, whilst the VIP service costs around THB1,000.

The buses have air-con, a steward, toilets, and they provide some refreshments (bottle of water and muffin). In addition to these facilities, the VIP buses have more comfortable seats, extra legroom, and you will be provided with some free food at the rest stop. However, if you are taking an overnight bus, then this meal will not be provided until around midnight, so you may want to take additional snacks aboard!

Pros

As with any service, there are both pros and cons of choosing to travel with Phuket Travel.

Starting with the pros, the buses are comfortable (especially VIP), and they even provide a blanket and pillow to increase your comfort when sleeping.

They are also generally quite clean, and the air-conditioning does a good job (perhaps a little too good, see cons!).

The bus staff are fairly considerate, and the TV and lights are turned off during the night so that everyone can sleep.

The service is timely and the advertised journey duration is generally accurate.

Cons

The drawbacks of this service are that the A/C is too cold (pack a jumper to wear!) and the bus drivers do not speak very good English, so are unable to assist with any queries you may have.

There have also been reports of some of the drivers not sticking to speed limits, but it is quite common for Thai drivers to speed, so this is not a huge surprise.

The advertised Wi-Fi is apparently not very good, but again most buses advertise some sort of internet service, but due to overuse the signal can be very weak.

The drivers have also been known to blast very loud music, but this is usually turned off at night.

Travellers reviews

Compared to the other operators that run a service between Bangkok and Phuket (e.g. Phuket Central Tour and Bus Express), Phuket Travel are the same price-wise, but the reviews suggest that Phuket Travel offers a far superior service.

In general, travellers tend to have rather a positive experience from using Phuket Travel’s service. Many report that the ride is quite comfortable and mention that drivers do stick to the speed limits.

Note that if the food is served at the stop, there is a choice of stalls with Halal meals – which is common in the south of the country. Travellers also consider free refreshments and the choice of meals decent.

It is not a rare case that buses arrive to their destination ahead of the schedule. Take it into consideration if there are people meeting you at the bus station.

All in all, travellers agree that Phuket Travel is a great choice especially if you are
on a budget.

Tickets to phuket to patong bangla stadium, nobody made it there, as they simply drop off at bus station. Offered 100 baht to travel from bus,station to patong. Horrible speech of ppl involved in change of bus in surat thani, the guy was either stoned or drunk, or probably kratom addicted, he could hardly speak. He was asking ppl to move 3 times, with suitcases, without any purpose. As I told him ots a sum of the whole company 12go and the tour operator they are involved with, he started ggreathenknv ne, that they will not take me to phuket if i dont give them my ticket wich is a proof that destination was patong,and not . There was only one dtop

My blanket had holes. I requested a replacement, but the bus attendant declined. Furthermore, both seats had issues,neither reclined properly, and one seat was in poor condition. Furthermore, the bus attendant was rude, she took blankets back before reaching the destination, even though the air conditioning was blasting and it was too cold inside.

My experience at the bus terminal was surprisingly good. Checking in was easy. I had to wait for 5 hours since my hotel checked me out at 11am, but waiting at the bus terminal was fine. There are a number of restaurants to eat and wait at. It wasn't easy to find a place to charge my devices. I had to use a power bank. The toilets were clean. I did my nails. I was quite comfy. There are people selling clothes, shoes, and a variety of souvenirs. There's a place to play arcade games and board games. There's a Watsons store to buy toiletries and basic first aid stuff and medication. It was quiet and there were plenty of places to sit and there weren't any queues. The bus itself was ok. The seats were comfy and reclined quite far back. I had nobody sitting next to me, so I could sprawl. The toilet was clean, though a lil smelly (septic tanks always smell). The rest stop was late into the night. I recommend that passengers eat before the trip, because food options are few at the rest stop and there is only Thai food and a few snacks. We were stopped at the police checkpoint at the entry into Phuket. Our passports were checked, and I, the only black and African person on the bus, had my bags checked and documents checked twice. Luckily, I also had my work permit with me, so the cops left me alone and had no further questions.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding my recent bus journey. I had purchased a VIP 24 seat, paying 1,500 THB total with extra services for what was described as a higher-comfort experience with insurance and reliable service. Unfortunately, the reality of the trip fell far below expectations. The bus was in poor condition and did not match the advertised VIP standards. The cabin was unclean, with an extremely unpleasant odor that made the journey very uncomfortable. It was not the level of hygiene or comfort one would expect from a service labeled “VIP.” First few hours I seated at lower floor… I chose this ticket expecting a higher standard of travel, and I feel that the service provided was unacceptable for the price and promises made.

Service was good and timely, but the bus drivers both were very rude to us and told we can’t eat any snacks at all in the bus when they saw us getting some chips. Way rude and doesn’t make sense of this rule as other big bus services allow to eat normally. Restrictions like these would simply reduce your customer base!

Шикарные спальные сидения. Включён перекус, напитки и небольшая горячая еда на остановке. Кондиционер в этом автобусе был нормальнвй, не пришлось заклеевать скотчем.

Points positifs :Horaires respectés, fauteuils comfortables, climatisation et toilette. Points négatif : pas de vrai repas à bord. Pas de wifi, pas de pause pour prendre quelque chose a manger autre que les "deux petits" gâteaux la bouteille d'eau et le jus de multivitaminé. Prévoyez de manger !!

Sehr viel Beinfreiheit und Snacks und ein kleine Wasser umsonst. Bus hat paar mal angehalten um Thailänder abzuholen bzw. irgendwo abzusetzen. WLAN hat natürlich nicht geklappt. Warmes Essen gab es nicht umsonst. Fernseh war auch nicht vorhanden. Toilette dreckig und alles nass. Für die lange Strecke war es aber soweit zufrieden stellend. Wir würden es wieder buchen :)

The driver didn't talk in any language except Thai, he left us in the middle of the night somewhere at the high way because he didn't stop at the proper bus station. It's ridiculous.

Overall trip was okay. Seat comfort 6/10 Stopped off for free food half way through. Snack and water also provided whilst on board. Only issues, the A/C had a faint smell of urine (fan located near the bathroom I presume) Wifi didn't work. Bathroom was dirty.

Coches muy cómodos, espaciosos, dormí todo el viaje (elegí asiento abajo). Llegó a horario. El único detalle, el bocadillo tenía hormigas pero bueno, no quita todo el resto.

Hôtesse désagréable et impolie, une honte ! Comment avoir une bonne image de la compagnie après ça. Muffin avec 2/3 raisins en guise de snack pas bon. Conduite mouvementée. Personne ne vous le dira donc sachez que vous aurait le droit à un repas gratuit lors du seul stop qu'il y aura (il n'y a qu'un seul resto). Arrivee 1h30 à l'avance, donc 5h30 du matin.. On a eu de la chance que notre hotel soit ouvert pour déposer nos bagages sinon nous aurions été embêté! À l'aller nous avions pris une autre compagnie et pour exactement le même prix, s'était un trajet de luxe (sieges massants + snack de qualité) avec phuket travel c'est du bad gamme ! Et en principe le bus est supposé avoir la wifi, n'y comptez pas..

Bus assez confortable quoique non récent. Pas de WiFi car changement de fournisseur. Horaires respectés, même en avance à Bangkok. Le vrai problème, c'est qu'il n'y a qu'un seul arrêt sur le parcours !

Все отлично, соотношение цена -качество! Пожалела , что на обратную дорогу уже купила авиа билет! Время в поездке пролетело незаметно , сиденья удобные, раскладываются, всю ночь спала , прибывает на станцию Рядом с чатучак рынком , куда мне и надо было ! Вайфай средний , на мессенджеры хватит , но не более того. Немного прохладно , но выдают плед . Прибыли на 2 часа раньше , все супер. я довольна , спасибо компании за приемлимые цены на билеты !!!

Overall not bad. The seats were pretty comfortable, although mine didn’t recline quite as much as it should, but only by a little. The seatbelts worked, the driving wasn’t too bumpy, and the water and snacks were appreciated. Definitely not as comfortable as a sleeper train, but not as bad I expected for such a long bus ride.

Puntual , cordial , con alguna parada en medio del camino que vino bastante bien, buena conducción , y llegó al destino antes de tiempo.. el único pero es que la conexion wifi iba muy lenta, a quien no lleve datos le valdria para mensajeria instantánea y poco más.

Der Bus ist mit komfortablen Liegesitzen ausgestattet. Eine ideale Nachtreise ist es wert, Mann verliert keinen Tag, ruht sich über Nacht aus und ist am Morgen danach am neuen Ort. Es werden eine Flasche Wasser, Saft und etwas zu essen zur Verfügung gestellt. Liebend gerne wieder :)

Canadian, female, solo traveller - Bus got in earlier than expected - Staff have limited English, important as you will need to be aware at the rest stop - Extremely cold air conditioning, blanket provided but is not enough - Small snack and water provided, nice touch - Seat belts broken - Almost 180 degree recline allowed decent rest

The bus was nice. Large seats and clean. except for the toilet, very nasty. Made a lot of stops where the chauffeur loaded packages in and got money (and delivered them). Very strange, probably made 7+ stops. Were one and a half hour later than the “12 hours”. Overall decent tho.

Très bon voyage, attention tout de même le conducteur vous incite à descendre à Mochit Station, alors que le terminus du bus est bien Sai Tai Mai....Tous les passagers sont descendus à Mochit j étais la seule à aller jusqu au bout....

Все очень чётко и по расписанию Билеты заказывали на сайте, а по прибытию на автовокзал нас уже ждали распечатанные билеты, нигде никаких задержек. Рекомендую.

Приехали в терминал «Mochit» вместо Южного терминала. Причем не в 9 часов, а в 7.30. Туалет в автобусе крошечный, не было воды. Сам салон хороший, удобные сиденья, отличный вай-фай, вода, сок, булочки и ужин включены в стоимость. Не холодно.
