About Kwan Chee Vee Tour
Quick company intro
Based in Mo Chit, one of Bangkok’s largest bus terminals, Kwan Chee Vee Tour are experts at running the popular Bangkok–Kanchanaburi route. Plenty of Thais and foreigners choose their services when heading out of the capital to the west of the country to see the infamous Death Railway and the bridge over the River Kwai.
All the vans are air-conditioned and hold a maximum of 10 passengers so it should be a more comfortable ride than with some of their competitors.
Routes served by Kwan Chee Vee Tour
Bangkok–Kanchanaburi
Kwan Chee Vee Tour focus solely on providing transport between Bangkok and Kanchanaburi and vice versa with 15 services heading in each direction every single day. Vans depart both Bangkok and Kanchanaburi hourly between 04.00-18.00 with journey times of approximately 3 hours. The price is THB140, the same in both directions.
All vans arrive/depart from Bangkok’s northern bus station, Mo Chit, whilst the Kanchanaburi terminal can be found at the town's bus station on U-Thong Soi 6, in the centre of town.
Pros
Kwan Chee Vee Tour offer earlier departures from Kanchanaburi than most of their competitors, which could be vital if you need to head back to Bangkok in order to catch a flight from either the city's Don Mueang International Airport or Suvarnabhumi Airport.
The information available when booking a ticket online is better than most other transport providers, you are given clear directions to allow you to find the correct ticket office in the notoriously confusing Mo Chit bus station. This is particularly helpful if you're in a rush! Even if you do end up missing your bus, with frequent departures on the hour you shouldn't have too long to wait.
Cons
Like many other transport providers across Thailand, the vans used by Kwan Chee Vee Tour can sometimes be a few years old so issues with air conditioning are not unheard of.
However, it has to be said that the vans used by this company tend to be of a higher standard than many other companies. There is not much that can be done to combat this, besides ensuring you get to the bus station early enough to secure yourself a seat as close to the air conditioning as possible, or a window.
Keep in mind
A constant issue with transport providers across Thailand is where you get dropped off at the end of your journey. Some companies routinely stop on the outskirts of town, forcing you to pay for a tuk-tuk to take you the last mile or so into the centre, which can cost more than the journey there in the first place! Kwan Chee Vee Tour ensure that this isn't necessary by taking you from Mo Chit in Bangkok to the very centre of Kanchanaburi. You know there won't be any surprise costs with this trip!
What travellers say
Customers are often surprised at the reliable service offered by Kwan Chee Vee Tour, with regular departures in both directions that run on schedule – something that can't be said for many other transport companies across the country.
The trips are also competitively priced, especially given the fact that once you arrive in Kanchanaburi you aren't dropped on a highway on the edge of town, having to rely on extortionate tuk-tuks to ferry you either to the bus station or directly to your hotel. Kwan Chee Vee Tour ensure that you are taken to the destination that you are expecting and have paid for, meaning it is far easier to find your accommodation, as well as saving you some money!
Some reviews complain about the necessity of purchasing an additional ticket for your luggage as there is very little room to store it. Unfortunately, the same system is used by the vast majority of transport providers across the country and there is little that can be done to avoid paying this charge. It may not always be needed though, for example, if the van is emptier than usual then there may not be a charge. However, this is always at the ticket seller’s discretion and you should expect to be asked to pay this more often than not.
