注意：有时候不能预订长途线路上的几个小时内的短途一等票，因为一等票通常会为从始发站到终点站的长途旅客预留。不过，如果您只需要4到5个小时即可到达B目的地，有时候软席二等卧铺是一个不错的选择。检查票价包含的服务内容，和水、零食、洗漱用品一样，床单和毛巾可能会提供，也可能不会提供。尽量多带些衣物，因为火车的空调或暖气可能并不能满足您的要求。

火车旅行的优点

- 网上订火车票省时省心。许多目的地的火车票可以提前90天预订，方便您规划行程。临近出发时购票也未尝不可。也不用去火车站订票——想在哪订就在哪订。
- 通常火车票比机票便宜得多。在某些路线上，如果考虑到在机场办理值机、安检和海关手续所花费的时间，坐高铁的时间与坐飞机的时间大同小异甚至更短。
- 火车站通常位于市中心，可以很快到达酒店。老火车站往往本身就是历史建筑，这是其他交通工具不具备的额外福利。将这些车站作为旅行的终点站或起点站意义非凡。
- 坐过夜的火车既可以省下白天的时间去做些有趣的事情，还可以省下酒店费用。如果选择卧铺，还可以睡得很好，肯定比卧铺大巴睡得更好!

It was a nice Experience, as a Backpacker it was Really neccesery to Book The 2nd/ 1st class, cause of the place trouble in the 3rd. But you have to inform yourself, where to wait and enter the Train, so you dont have time trouble to run to the side of the First class

For first class, l feel what is offered is anything but that, no food provided, no water, the aircon was freezing, the chairs were old & falling apart, the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. I would say for the amount of tourists using and paying for this service they need major improvements.

We bought the ticket from Colombo to Kandy. First we wanted to take the train at 11 am but when I was looking 5 minutes later, the option was gone. So we booked the train at 7 am. So far so good. We got the receipt and I payed via PayPal. The official price was around 3.000 LKR, when I paid with PayPal they booked Singapore Dollars which was way more expensive. In total we payed 15EUR /20 USD… which is not the price that was originally shown.
We received the E-Tickets right away and the rest was totally fine. Next time I would prefer asking the ticket counter instead of booking online as it’s a lot cheaper.

During Booking procedure the insurance option was selected by default. This should be changed! Don’t try to get as much money from your customers, rather be more transparent!

Very nice ride in the observation class with plenty of space and plenty of locals! Beware the observation coupe is the last coupé with the big windows at the back, so you'll drive backwards the whole way (I get carsick but with one tablet I was fine when whole train ride, the train is pretty slow making me less nauseaus and making the view even better!)
There is only 4 seats by the actual big window, but the other seats provided a good view as well and you can walk to the window and hang out for a little bit

At the Hikaduwa station no information in English. Locked door to board the train. Got on the train my seat was taken (26A). No information about the train. All the televisions weren't working. People standing between the seats....had they paid to stay there? No tickets control. Apart from that.... Everything else was fine!!

I had a great time. The first class compartment was clean and the AC worked really well. Train was on time and the journey was really comfortable. Just be aware of where you need to get down as announcements are not made in English.

We caught the train Colombo to Galle and enjoyed it so much we then did Galle to Colombo!
Buying ticket and collecting the physical ticket at station was easy. Train station staff were more than helpful to ensure we knew where to go.
The train was comfortable and the ac was delightful.
